RS6 vs. cammed SS top end

Well I had another one of those encounters today. You gotta love Southern California, land of the near common-place exotic. I was headed South on I5 just north of Oceanside (going to Carlsbad) when I noticed an Audi in the rearview. I was driving a little spirited as I was in a hurry to get to the track. My weaving between the two leftmost lanes must have gotten his attention as he felt I needed a lesson. He came up on my right doing 80 or so, nailed it, then cut across my lane. My "like hell you will" instinct kicked in and I nailed the throttle. The 4l60E shifted just right putting me at the top of second. He had gotten about a three car jump in the time it took me to react and move one lane over to give chase. The intial downshift of my car slowed his pull but he was still inching forward. Third kicked in and by 100 I had stoped his pull, he was four cars in front. We hit traffic and shut down at 120. I had made up half a car in that time.

The guy in the RS6 musn't have been pleased with the results as he looked to be arguing with his female companion. He then reached over and appereared to be doing something with the center console (boost-controller?, or maybe he was just turing off the AC). He glanced into his rearview mirror only to see me shaking my head in disapproval:grinno:. "Not today Buddy", I thought. This must have infuriated him as he nailed it again once the traffic on his left cleared.

Round Two
I pursued once again. He got a much better jump this time about six cars. From 80-135 neither of us seemed to be pulling. I kept expecting to start inching him like the previous run but it didn't happen. My car shifted into 4th (140) and it felt like it hit a brick wall, RPMs dropped to 3900. He started walking away. I shut down at about 150 with him 8 cars in front.

Well I guess I learned my lesson... time for longtubes and a cutout...

haha the RS6 is a twin turbo V8. its basically the S4 engine with two turbos making close to 500hp. of course if it was a E55 AMG then i'm sure danno would get his ass kicked even more beucsae those are much faster then the RS6 becusae its only RWD instead of AWD, and makes 500hp and can run 0-100 in under 10 seconds.

It is an Audi A6 with the quattro all wheel drive and a twin turbo 4.2 liter V8 that puts out 450 horsepower @ 6000 rpms. It does 0-60 in 4.6 seconds, and the quarter mile in 14.1, which is kickass for a stock 4 door sedan that weighs as much as the RS6 (about 4200 pounds). In other words, it is a kickass car, that hauls ass.

Don't let the 1/4 time fool you, it's faster than the BMW M5 0-60 (4.6) and 0-125 (17.8). I believe the poor 1/4 time is due to an unfortunate shift just as you approach the end of the 1/4.

holy cow, i didnt know they were AWD. i just knew they weighed a whole lot...and of course an SS from a stop is one tough cookie.

what?! the rs6 doesn't run a 14.1 quarter mile? where on earth did u guys get that from? more like a 12.6! I am so confused. from where did u get the 14.1 quarter mile? the mercedes e55 amg is a direct competitor to this car and it is also faster. while the benz may not have awd, the audi's advantage is lost after the first 45 or 50 mph. the mercedes has 469hp and runs the quarter in an amazing 12.3. in additonn, it is a good bit cheaper than the rs6. check out the road test below for all of the information on this topic.
