tire wear question

wuz up peeps got a question for ya'll. I have 17 by 7 wheels on my car and my ride has been eatin tires like happy meals since then. The tires up front only. anyways they always wear out on the inner tread. One person told me it was due to my car being lowered in the front but I never lowered my car. unless my suspension was altered before I bought the car I don't know. no one else ever said anything about it when ever I got my allignment done so if it's true I never knew. anyway what else could be the cause of this type of tire wear. It's not air pressure because i always check that. what could be done to fix this prob. one guy told me I need the camber kit how much do these go for. Another guy said my springs were cut or somthing like that.

When was your last alignment? And did you get an alignment when you lowered your car? Most of the time too much toe eats away at your tires quicker than too much camber.

well yeah my car is due for allignment but even then it still happens just not as bad. But as far as the car being lowered I don't know if it is or not truthfully. like I said I never had the car lowered one person told me it may have been lowered but he was not clear to weather it was or not. SO I plan on getting a second opinion from someone who would know for sure but if you look at my car from the outside it does not look lowered. If I got it lowered I would have had it done properly adjustable springs at that.

Are you running spacers on your wheels to make 'em clear, or some huge offset in your wheels, I think its 40mm on a Civic, which is working okay with my new 15x7s. I imagine if you dial in significantly more offset either in the wheel itself or with spacers, you change the moment arm about which the tire acts on the vehicle suspension (for the worse). I've seen modified sport compacts rolling down the road with huge offset/spacers and the (in this case rear) wheels visibly angle outward (as angled in at the top, out at the bottom, which would asymmetrically wear the inside edge of the tire)

You can also look at a less performance oriented tire (higher treadwear rating, =harder, less 'grippy', longer wearing rubber) and definitely rotate often...

I dunno if any of this applies.

Well ask for 0 toe front and rear, that will slow down wear. Also see what your camber is. If it's around -1 camber, then you don't have a lowered car. If it's more than that it might show you are lowered. Also climb underneath and see what springs are on there. Sometimes you can read the manufacturer on the spring.

hey dude my cars lowered 3 inches and my tires do the same things but it takes 5 to 6 months then im like fuck it and throw em on the back and put the backs on the front so i change my tires like once a year seems to work for me

If your wearing down the inside and u just move the front to the back your still going to be wearing down the inside of those wheels.

I was going to start a new post on the same topic, but my tires do the same thing because of the weight of my new engine. If I take it to a shop can they adjust the camber without me having a camber kit?

You need a camber kit to fix your camber on all Hondas and Acuras.

toe-in wears out the entire tread, camber wears out the inner (or outer) tread only, if your alignment is good, my suggestion is to have your tires dismounted and flipped over to fit the other side (if theyre directional tires) occasionally to get some more tread life out of em. besides that, try a camber kit.

go have it alligned, and ask them to check the camber for you. they should anyways. for your car to really eat tires fast you would have to be more than -2 degrees out. If they are really going fast like you say, they are probbably out more than that. If it does turn out to be your camber, you will need a camber kit, because hondas and acura's do not come with one.

That's not entirely true. Toe-in and camber do wear the inner shoulder of the tire. Having both out of alignment will eat away at your tires quick.
