01 cavi z24 top speed

ok. why do the cavis have no speed at high rpms? i was going on a straight road yesterday for about 1/3 of a mile and i barely got up to 100mph. i like the fact that it has low end speed, but sacrificing the top end? thats what i hate about my cavi. and whats the fastest some of you have had a STOCK cavi up to? its about 103 for me, and thats what i did yesterday. now, would an rksport catback help the top speed out a little, and what else could i get besides a cai and headers? thanx

First of all, you drive a cavalier, not a corvette. Your lucky you dont lose control of the vehicle at that speed. they arent made to race stock. If you want to race your car. Build up the suspension with springs, struts, bushings, and stabalizer bars. Then you can take it to the track like an adult. Racing on the street kills people, grow up.

The reason your car will not go above 104 is because of the speed limiter, to try and deter people from driving stupid.

so your saying that you have never had a stock car up to that speed before? god, you need to live a little. when i had my 240sx i went 125 everyday. im not trying to piss people off or anything, but i just needed an answer, not somebody trying to be my daddy.

and i never hit the speed limiter, and it wasnt swerving all over the road either. i mean come on, you've obviously never had a cavi up to 100 have you? not an 01 z24.......

well my gf just got an 2001 z24(2.4l) , of course i had to put a cold air intake on it and she had the exhast switch out for something that made more noise. The first night she had it i got it up to around 110 then she gave me on of those looks so i had to get out of it. she normally gets it up to a 100 w/o probs on a normal bases. which is not saying much since my 94 4by4 toyota pickup siting on 33s hits the 85 mark about every morn and my 79 4by4 with 35 inch tall tires can hit the 120 mark (high as the speedo will go)with out to much problem on a normal bases lol. which it does have about 450hp 350 4 bolt main bored 40 over ,9.5 trw pistons , 38 pound rotatin assemby,msd ign ,shaved and angled milled heads ,283 custom cam , with a 650 double pumper feeding it :grinno: btw does any one know where i can get parts for the 2001 z24 they seem hard to find. I would like to squeeze a few more ponies out of her w/o nitrous ,no offence I think nitrous is a sorry way to increase proformance.
