throttle body

does anybody know of anything good or bad on this?

also, does anybody know how to perform the throttle body bypass? any instructions or pics? know any sites?

i know you cant actually "feel" 8 hp but with other mods is it really work the extra effort?

also how big a difference did the spacer make? any kind better then the next? will it be a better improvement with my mods?

I did the spacer and the bypass at the same time. I personally think they made a little difference, and no, I don't think one is better than the other one. They are cheap little mods, and they do help alittle.

add a magnetic fuel line while you are at it....they are jsut ways to suck up your money and decrease performance in most cases.

If you don't want to move the air differently, why do so many guys with these trucks port and polish the throttle body to get power increases. I know the throttle body spacer isn't worth $100, but mine was given to me after my friend got his blower and couldn't use it. I did gain off of it, but some people claim not to. So, I would have to disagree with you on not wanting to move the air differently. After I port and polish my throttlebody, I'll do a before and after on a dyno and post the results.

how long are you looking at before the dyno?

As soon as I can get a day off from work and make a trip to memphis. I'm gonna try to make a few pulls some time soon. I'm gonna try to get some pulls in before I install the ls1fans and underdrive pullies. Hopefully within the next few weeks, if my boss gives me some time off.

Whats does the throttle body bypass do. Does it have any negative affects? Thanks

The factory put a coolant line running into the bottom of the throttle body(as seen in the pictures). I was told this was to warm up the air entering the throttle body for help in cold weather. The downfall is that during the warmer weather, you are getting warm coolant run through the throttle body, heating up the air entering your throttle body. You won't see a downfall to doing this unless you live in an extremly cold climate. Then, it will only take the truck a little longer to warm up.

I'm considering doing the throttle body by-pass but for a different reason. I had my throttle body replace after 29,000 miles by the dealer under the service bulliten that was posted concerning a sticking gas pedal. Seems the throttle plate and other parts would get so dirty it would stick and cause everything to kinda freeze up so excessive force was needed on the gas pedal. (I have a 2001 ext. with 5.3) A very dangerous situation!

They now recommend cleaning out the throttle body every 5000-10,000 miles to help alleviate the problem. My thoughts are maybe the heating of the throttle body is causing something to happen inside......... some sort of reaction to the extra constant heating.

Anyone have any other comments??
