'99 Silverado Side Mirrors

Does anyone know how to take the mirror out of the mirror housing on a 99 Silverado with powered mirrors? It seems the spring has sprung on the inside of the side mirror and I can't figure out how to get to the area behind the mirror to fix it. I'd rather not bust the mirror... Also, Where is the connection to the wire harness? Is it inside the door, or behind the mirror?
