Bore and Stroke

For some reason Joey, the pres. of my club doesn't understand that if you have a 95 honda civic 1.6 vtech and getit bored to a 2.0 that you change the liter amount and not the stroke. if you use the right pistons and they are as deep as your stock pistons then stock cranks and rods will work. now maybe he's no mechanic but i tried to explain this too him but he just didn't believe me. hopefully you guys can understand what i'm saying. Bore=wider cylinders not taller or short! stroke does not change. Stoke rods and cranks will work, my car is proof. i'll strip the damn think down if i have to:flipa:

Yeah...you can't "change the liter amount" by stroking it....Man...I'm dumb - what can you tell me about rod/stroke ratios?

You are technically correct. But I think it is generally difficult if not impossible to get another 27% displacement from bore alone. The block would have to be resleeved with huge sleeves that might not allow adequate (if any) coolant flow between them. Not to mention problems of piston knock and reciprocating mass.

Fritz - can u close this thread? I have a feeling that a flame war is brooding and hte originator of the thread was giving a personal bash towards PH Member Sweetcarz.com (he is Joey - mentioned in the thread)

hey domass, that is what I told u in the first place, before u got on the bore and stroke thing.....he is stock and full of it, I had to tell him he had 2 cams :finger:
I quoted fritz to make sure hondabitch would see it again, my words are directed towards hondabitch :D
