Just bought a '96 Suburban LT 350 5.7L; also own an '84. Got love 'em.
115,000 miles on the '96. Had fluids changed to synthetics and just used fuel injector cleaner. Was running fine then wouldn't start and haven't been able to start it since. Haven't tested to see if it's the fuel pump, though it appears that's probably what it is...can't hear the pump when ignition is in "run" position.
Unfortunately, the tank is near full as it was filled (42 gal.) before it had the problem. I've searched and read from this site and others about the fuel pump and how to replace it, and I've got a couple of books on how to change the pump out...Haynes and Chiltons, but what is not clear is how to siphon out the gas when there's a baffle in the way.
How does one get the gasoline out?

Thats Murphys Law for you in action...fuel pumps only fail right after you fill the tank with gas!
You can slide a 3/8 fuel hose into the filler neck and siphon the gas out into the proper container.

The only "baffle" was mine, as it all worked out, got it done...and it was the fuel pump. Thanks to a friend...we got it straightened out. Thanks for your reply.
