Oil Leak

I have a slow oil leak in two places on my 1999 Sub. One is around or near the drain plug on the Oil pan. It could be higher up, I havn't cleaned the pan completely to be sure. The other is in the front somewhere, oil (or another oily fluid) is dripping onto the Steering control arm that runs under the engine. I can't quite figure out where this one is coming from. Both are very slow, a drip or two/day so I am not overly concerned. Should I be? If so what can I do to try and determine the location of the leak and what repairs mirght be neccessary. The dealer recently replaced the Intake Manifold under a used car purchase warranty, however, they said anything slow or related to the oil pan would not be covered.

Information: 1999 GMC Suburban SLT, 5.7L, 70K miles.

I had the same problem up front it was the oil cooler lines that run from the oil filter housing to the radiator. Aslo had a bad oil pan plug I replaced that and the leak stopped you should change the plug every 4th or 5th oil change. I have 85,000 miles on mine and it is costing me big bucks. 4 o2 sensors y pipe with cat. converters also the fuel pump.

Thanks, I will replace the plug at my next change and I will see if I can find those oil lines. Did a shop replace your oil cooler lines or did you do it yourself.

Do you or anyone else know how hard it is to change the oil cooler lines.

The dealer replaced the hoses I don't think it was a big deal.

The oil pan leak could be the washer on the oil plug, not the plug itself. Get a pack at the parts store and try that before replacing the plug. The front oil leak sounds like either the crank seal or the front oil pan seal.
