well.. you can put an intake for about $215. new.. but u can buy a used one. if thats too expensive.. then buy some HID lights or something so the headlights wont be yellow...

take out the resonator so it makes a really cool sound is about the cheapest and easiest i can think of. other then advacing the ignition timing, but you better have some 94 octane layin around.

Hmmmm intake, vtec controller, and other bolt ons. If you want the biggest bang for your buck then its NOS!

Yeah well, before you go and get laughing gas crazy, you better make sure that you setup the car for it first. Cause if you don't then you will fry the engine. So make sure that you are getting enough fuel into the engine so that your mix isn't lean.

the resonator is located convieniently behond the bumper and fenderwall (what a bitch) taking it out is pretty straight forward couple of bolts you can see with the naked eye although you may need a socket extension to get to one of them. the only problem with taking it out is there is this little throttle plate thingy in there (dont know what honda calls it) and it has a vacuum line that runs back to the intake manifold. when you remove the resonator you need to cap off that line or you could have some nasty vacuum leak that would blow ass. drop a k&n in there and you pretty much got a cold air intake...1-3 hp if your lucky from what i hear. the bumper looks way more complex then it really is, there are just a lot of retainers and screws to take out but you mustang guys are used to fixing shit so it should be cool!!1 just kiddin!!! as a honda guy i had to throw that in there, im sure you know how it is!! dont expect any big hp gains from any honda with budget mods like domestic v8's....good luck and it will sound cool when you mash the pedel trust me.

what kind of budget are you looking at for this project?

your not going to be able to get any super noticable performance gains for cheap with a prelude, as they are pretty tight from the factory. an intake and removed resonator will make the car sound a lot more ferocious. I got a short ram intake on ebay for 45.00 bucks and it sounds real nice.

some recomendations i would have

- rims / tires

- suspension (lower about 1.5")

-strut braces

-intake/headers/exhaust

-aftermarket stereo

-tint

you can get a factory painted spoiler at http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/

as for exhaust, i recommend Thermal R&D. it retains the factory look, is very deep sounding (not a hint of fartiness), all stainless including piping, reduced weight, better flow, and adds a few ponies without giving up midrange torque from too little restriction.
