Brake Light Switch

Hi All -

Has anyone has the presumed pleasure of changing out the Brake Light Switch that is located above the brake pedal??

I have a 95 Tahoe, two nights ago, I noticed the brake lights were on as it was idling out in the driveway. When I depressed the brake pedal the brake lights went out. When I let up, brake lights came back on. I have tail lights, flashers work as well. I have checked all associated fuses and all are in tact.

Last evening, I reached up in there to try and remove the switch. I found that it will turn upwards in a counter-clockwise direction but will not release itself. I think it may be held on with a snap-ring or something as there is a post that runs through it. ( Not the easiest place to see in the truck )

If some one has removed one of these, would you please let me know the final step(s) that must be completed to get it loose so I may replace it.

Thanks!!

You have to pry off the 'onetime use' retention spring, then I think it comes off easy. just get a small screwdriver in there and pry that spring apart... good luck!
