Hey BigBen21,

Can you get a Acura Stock Radio code. I bought my car used without the original manual and had some engine work done this weekend and of course I can't get my radio back on again unless I pay the local dealer $79. If I had that I would just go buy a new one. If you can I will provide you with the serial, model #'s etc.

Thanks in advance

I just got my car back from a body shop and I'm having a really hard time trying to get my stereo code (Honda really does a great job of keeping people from stealing from themselves). I've been to an Acura dealership and they couldn't find the code with the serial number (listed below) that I gave them, so either they don't know what they are doing (most likely the case) or the serial number is wrong. I've looked at several other threads online and many say that you can find your code on a white tag somewhere in the car (Is this true?), but most of the time it was either because the radio was replaced or the car was a relatively new model (like 01 and later). If I could get the code without having to tear out my radio and bring it back to the dealership I would be very, very happy.

My car is a 1995 Acura Integra and the serial number for the radio is: "PB 20418"

P.S. Not having a working radio SUCKS.

Dear bigben21:

I recently had the same problem with the anti-theft radio prompting for a code after installing a new car battery.

I hope this will be enough info for you (because I bought the car used, this is all I have on the radio without tearing into the center panel)...

1994 Honda Accord EX

I think the radio serial number is: RAO27625

Can you please find my code?

Thank you very much!

BigBen21, I noticed the other Acura owner had a dash in his serial number, so can you see if "PB-20418" brings up anything different because I know my radio is anti-theft. If that doesn't work, then I'm pretty sure my serial number is wrong. I might have to take my radio out. Is there a web site with detailed pictoral instructions on how to take the radio out of a 95 Integra? Thanks.

I beg pardon - is it possible to retrieve a radio code (from a dealership or whatnot) via the vehicle's VIN number - instead of the radio's serial number?

Hi Guys,
I have a 99 Honda Accord. Recently I had struggled hard to search for the radio codes. I couldn't find the codes although I am the original buyer.

I had searched several forums and sites. Based on some recommendations and postings, I even took the risk of opening the center console and opened the Radio to get the Serial# and the Reference# from the bottom plate of the radio. (BTW the Serial# was also on a sticker in the glove compartment).

When I called my dealer's service department with radio's Srl# and Ref#, the lady service advisor told me that there was no need to do so. She said if you call the dealer who sold you the new car (i.e., if you are first buyer of the car), they should be able to give you the radio code. Luckily I got mine over the phone but some dealers may need proof of ownership in person. Radio code is a 5 digit number containing digits between 1 and 6 only. Each car has a different code, so searching internet for your radio's code won't help. The system gives you 10 (ten) tries to enter the code.

To future seekers, following sites had instructions to remove Honda/Acura's accessories or console:
http://www.handa-accessories.com/index.html
Once you are there, search for an accessory for your car (say CD player) and click on the link with it called "View install instructions".

Also, the following site had pictures to open the center console for Honda Accord 99-02 models, though for a different, but very interesting reasons. Good for iPOD or MP3 Player fans who are also savvy tech.
http://www2.et.byu.edu/~jtb8/iPod/ipod_install.html

Lastly, I guess the following site has ESMs (Electronic Service Manuals) for all Honda cars (probably Europeans Models) as CD burning images.
http://icelord.net/honda/repair/honda_man4emule.html

Good Luck!

I received No Help.
I don't think anyone really gets any help on this matter. I believe everyone eventually goes to the dealer for the code. I tried www.radio-code.com. That advertises on this site for the code. The code did not work. I will go to the dealership in the morning to stop the silence. No radio all weekend! The smart thing to do is go the aftermarket route or make sure you get the code when you purchase the vehicle. You will need it some day and probably during a 3 day weekend.

why in the world would ANY car company put codes on their radios ? Although they are actually quite expensive, most people would rather have a $50 aftermarket unit they got at a flea market than the stock OEM unit. I can't ever remember hearing of anyone getting their stock headunit jacked.

It's called making sure you keep business. Think about Mr. 50 year old don't know very much about car's but my car came with a Bose. For some reason his radio asks for the code. He calls the dealership and they charge him 60 or something for it. He is happy with his fixed radio and they're happy with the 60 they just made to do nothing. Dunno why people must do that...

people still jack them.(stock and aftermarket) people still buy them.(stock and aftermarket) Can't believe this thread got resurrected more than once either.

Hello,
Picked up a replacement Bose radio for my Denali. Well, I'm stuck without the security code.
I've contacted the seller who does not have it anymore. I've contacted the dealer and they were of little help.
My biggest problem is that is is an RDS unit.
If anyone can help me, I would be most appreciative.
Here is the info on the unit itself.

Seriously. The best bet is to go to the dealer and pay the (most likely) ridiculous charge to get it.

PaulD
04-15-2007, 07:40 PM
there were a few at the beginning that did ...... most thru pvt msg. I just wonder why the dealers charge so much for something that should be free, I mean I didn't ASK for a code to be put into my nearly worthless stock headunit. It should come with a standard "1234" code from the factory, and changed only if I want to.

pimprolla112
04-15-2007, 10:41 PM
Exactly but think about it this thread is over 3 years old, and up until what the second page people might have gotten codes. Its almost as bad as these threads from 02 and 03 that are about something and some of the people havent posted since then.

Im going to search google, wont do me much good since i refuse to use a stock unit. But i might be able to find a website that gives info to reset it, or what the code might be like the last 4 of the vin, or something. I think people are just to lazy to use google.

PaulD
04-16-2007, 04:48 PM
the radios and other electronics are made in a different factory, they are installed into the chassis at the last step - I HIGHLY doubt the radio code has anything to do with the VIN number.

pimprolla112
04-17-2007, 12:32 AM
True but they can program them or have a preset code, and i would figure the vin would be one of the best ideas for that. But manufacturers are idiots and love money.
