Just started a new project: Hasegawa Toyota 2000GT
http://img25.photobucket.com/albums/v75/yellow15/Models/2000GT/box1.jpg
It's a classic old school car and I'm going to build it completely stock. No lowering, and don't expect 19" wheels, c/f decal or gt wing :rofl::rofl:

The quality of the kit seems pretty good. THe wheels are really detailed and same as the interior. Unfortunately there is no engine but i don't really care :loser:. There are quite a lot of chrome parts and to be honest i'm quite worried about it.

So far i'm still preparing the body shell:
http://img25.photobucket.com/albums/v75/yellow15/Models/2000GT/body1.jpg

I need to drill some holes for the rear bumper...etc but i don't know what i was doing and ended up drilling too many holes :banghead: (the red circles)
http://img25.photobucket.com/albums/v75/yellow15/Models/2000GT/body2.jpg

so i've to fill up those "extra" ones using putty

there are a few "dents" on the door as well and again will be fixed by putty treatment :)

http://img25.photobucket.com/albums/v75/yellow15/Models/2000GT/body3.jpg

I want to use this kit to practice and improve my basic modelling skills so i will be building this one slowly so don't expect an update every day

You got the right idea, take your time and it will make a nice model. I didn't drill the holes in the back...I shaved the tabs off the bumperettes and attached them with white glue.

Also you'll notice that the lower front end needs to be molded in to cover the seams. The lower front cowling sweeps back pretty far under the car and it is in the way of installing the chassis. What I did was cut that piece off up to where the little vents start so the chassis can pass by.

The woodgrain decal for the interior is stubborn to lay down flat, use a solvent on it for sure.

Veyron: Can you explain a bit more about what you did to the lower front?? I don't really get it :screwy: THanks :p

You can see I cut the lower cowling off below the vents.

Your interior woodgrain looks better than mine!

ok i've painted the body, and here is one more progress pic.
http://img25.photobucket.com/albums/v75/yellow15/Models/2000GT/body5.jpg

at the beginning i was thinking of some sort of white as it was the most popular colour for the 2000GT but later on i've changed my mind as i think a red 2000GT looks hot and the colour will suit the body shape more and i've picked "toyota red" (dupli color spray can).
i'll wait for a few days then do the clear coat. Hopefully the clear coats won't screw up my base coat. Ok no more work until this weekend

Pretty happy with the paint job so far... Orange peel on the roof is quite noticable but should be able to get rid of them by a bit of polishing.

After that, i'll do the window frame using bare metal foil. This will be my first time using bare metal foil to do this kind of job... hope it will turn out ok

That is looking super, interior and paint is great. A polishing kit should fix up the orange peel no problem. I think I saw one of these kits at my L(KO)HS recently. You've convinced me to pick it up if it is still there next time I visit! I recall seeing a pic of a gun metal grey version in a Rallycourse annual and it looked awesome.

Ok it has been quite a while and here are two more pics. I've polished the body, painted the window frame and also did the chrome window frame using bare metal foil.

Thanks guys :)

675Datsun: I used paint to do the panel lines. To be honest I'm not very happy with the result. i think the lines are a bit too dark in a few places and not thin enough.

It's a pretty good kit. Good quality and detail. I would recommend it to you guys.
