why is it that the real ENTHUSIASTS have to scrape together every penny they have just to buy an undriveable car with a rotted frame...when the rich posers can get mommy and daddy to buy them whatever car they want?

there is a person i know, a former friend. he has ALWAYS been a ricer, for as long as i've known him. loved the Honda's, the "Naws", the ugly body kits and what-not. i, having loved 240SX's and Silvias since i first saw one in person on my trip to Japan in 1997, mistakingly one day showed him a picture of a 240SX, and told him my plans for it. a couple months later, he turns around and decides he'll be a hardcore 240SX enthusiast just like me. he goes around claiming he's "loved" the car for 7 years now (ironically the same time period as i've known about them), and goes around spouting off knowledge about them that is all wrong. i always have to correct him. as if that wasn't bad enough, all the mods he wanted were "somehow" EXACTLY the same as what i wanted to do to my car. so i'm thinking to myself "don't worry. he'll never buy one and this'll never get off the ground". little did i know this kid was filthy rich and had his parents at his every beck and call. so this kid, who's known about the car for all of a month and doesn't love it like i do, get's a 240SX before me, who's been looking for one for 2 or 3 years now. and he didn't pay a cent out of his own pocket for it.

that pissed me off alot, but some happiness came when i finally got my 240SX about a month after him and figured i could make mine better then his having more knowledge and love for the car then he. but no. not even that could work in my favour. i knew my car was rusted when i bought it, but so was his, and his was salvagable, so i thought mine could be too. but no. mine had to be completely destroyed and not road-worthy. so now i'm in debt for a car that won't move and won't even hit the road again, meanwhile this fuck-wit is using his parents money to buy parts for his car already.

and as if THAT wasn't bad enough...he now claims he's got an FC3S RX-7 with a seized engine that he plans to fix up, and then plans to sell his S13. so here's me, a fan of drifting and japanese RWD cars for 7 years, with a busted car and no money, and here's him, a poser who jacked all my ideas and used his parents money, with not one but two RWD Japanese sports machines.

the only good thing i can pull from this is at least he'll not have a 240SX anymore now that he's got an FC.

but seriousley, what the fuck? every time this kid talks to me, i just want to punch him in the face.

GRR! :banghead:

Sorry to hear about that dude, life is a real bitch sometimes. I used to stuggle with the same idea of how some people can have so much and be so ignorant about it. All I can say is don't let him get to you if he's rubbing it in your face. Getting angry won't change the situation or the person any, and whacking him with a baseball bat won't help the situation much either. Life's unfair, get used to it. Some people will get every opportunity in the world while others will just get kicked in the balls. Just take it in stride and take comfort in the fact in your specific situation you are a better person for have putting forth the effort and sweat to acheive your goal and you were modest about it while the other kid didn't do squat and then had the audacity to flaunt it in your face. You are a better person than he in my book too.

I can relate to your post in many ways. People running around in their "mom&pops" bought Camaro,Mustang,RX7,yadda yadda yadda...
You can see in my avatar my latest project. If I had 3 or 4 grand to dump into it, I'd be driving it in the spring.
But I see it like this: I put the blood sweat and tears into it
I worked hard to buy it
I can take pride in the fact that I know what went into it
And I also know enough to appreciate what I have, AND TO TAKE CARE OF IT!
I'm also not worried about not knowing what to do later on in life when the world takes a dump on me. Wher will this guy be when his parents aren't around anymore? I know that I can rebuild, rethink, & adapt to whatever my life throws at me because no-one ever handed me anything for free. I'm not saying that my s**t don't stink, I'm just saying that I don't care if it does...
We all fall on our butts at one point or another. People that have experience with the real world will know how to get back up. I have respect for guys like you. Keep fighting the good fight, and build what you can with whatever tools you receive in life. All in good time...
Sorry for the rant- things like this always pull at my strings

People who aren't true car enthusiasts rarely know their limits in terms of driving ability. They get a fast car, think they're Michael Schumacher, do something stupid and stuff it in a wall, or pole, around a tree maybe. I feel your pain, but be patient, and when that day comes, smile :)

I would think it's the other way around.

"True enthusiasts" know their limit in terms of ability.

"Posers" are the ones that can't drive as well as they think, and will wrap it around a tree.

dont let it get to you cause really cant anything be done about it its just life. If hes just pissing you off that much why do still hang with him?
Also for how it helps go out side look at your car feel how proud you are? member he and anyother pouser or someone who had everything done for them can never feel that. That makes it worth it right there.

Don't worry about that FC. ;) I know he's a moron and I don't even know HIM. He bought it with a seized engine? HA! Believe me, a person like that will never learn the rotary, and he'll destroy the motor. Say that RX-7's are garbage and move on to a new car. That FC won't last him 5000 miles. He's too stupid. :D

totally with MBTN on that. The constant problems are going to get to him and unless he wrecks it first, he'll get rid of it in short order.

Then hopefully somebody worthy of owning an FC will buy it and take care of it. :)

Or... You could tell him that the Geo Metro is the ultimate tuning car and your saving up for one as you speak (no offence to any Geo drivers, I think they're sweet lil cars, just not very tunable :grinno: ) and then maybe he'll have a nice geo metro in his driveway, leaving his 13 up for sale for someone like yourself to scoop up.

People who have everything handed to them rarely appreciate anything. When I was still married I went to pick-up my step-daughter from school.I saw some 16-17 year old kid, driving an Escalade,I have no idea how much the rims were. But, I'm willing to bet I could have put a new engine and a few modifications into my car for the price of the rims!!

um , if he got a rusty 240sx and a rx7 with a siezed engine I dont think his parents are really filthy rich. Filthy rich is a brand new corvette or 350z or something of the like. He still sounds like a no talent ass-clown tho.
