just read and follow along...

i need something to play with, and sence i cannot really afford and car that i really want... i will take the next best thing, my old 1990 honda civic DX with a piston that has a hole in it!! so i am thinking a cheep-as-you-can-do-it turbo. (like $500 tops) so here are the issues at hand. i can do all the work myself (i have the motor torn apart and the pistons out, i am just lazy and have not bought the new rings/pisons to peace it back togeater. my only concern is that the duel point injection will not be suffecent to fuel a turbo. as luck would have it, i have a freind with a 91 civic EX (auto tranny unfortuantly) that has a frozen motor due to oil starvation. the car has been wrecked on top of that so i think i can get the whole car for $100. why would i do that? well, the head is in great condition; and bolts on to the DX block. it would be about a 13HP bolt on. this leaves a few problems though. 1. i need the conversion wireing (i think i can do that myself with the help of http//www.civic4g.com) and 2 the EX head can not be used with DX pistons. hmmm. well i need new pistons in mine anyway. i have spare pistons from a 1998 civic EX laying around somewere, and i know they will fit (i have tested them). however, i had asked about this on this site b4 and was told taht would make for 'stupid low' compression by someone. i need this confirmed and defined (how low is 'stupid low'?) from what i can see by compairing the pistons side-by-side there is less than a 2mm differance which i do not think would equal to drastic of a compression ration drop. (something like 8:1? which admititly would be pushing it) my second idea is to buy brand new civic EX pistons/rings and use them on the DX (talking about EX from same year range now) i am sure they will fit (they are vertually the same). the only question i rase here is if the sheerpin is the same!! i know on the pistons from the 98 the sheerpin is much larger.

so eather i can use the pistons from the 98 civic EX, or i can use pistons from a 88-91 civic EX with a 1mm head gasket.

i will also need an ECU from a 88-91 EX 5-spd ...maybie i can trade an auto for a 5-spd?

then once all of that insanity is over... i can BEGIN on my turbo kit lol.
