Hey whassup? Im thinking of just lookin for a used JRSC unit. Instead of paying $2500 i can save myself a good $1000 or so just buying a used unit. of course when i get it im just going to buy new belts from the company and clean the charger with a can of TB/Intake cleaner to get all the gunk or whatever out. What do you think? Sound like a good idea? Its not like it can be abused as much as a Turbo ..if it can..minimal wear and tear i would guess..

Do not be fooled, anything can be abused and ruined. I remember a while ago on www.theoldone.com they had an article on how some guy literaly destroyed his JRSC. It is possible to change the pulley on the units, making it boost to higher levels, however along with this increase in boost comes an increase in stress, not only to your engine but the blower unit as well. To make a long story short, while the JRSC is the poster child for reliable forced induction, the unit itself can be pushed and abused and damaged internally as a result.

Just be careful when you shop around, Im sure you could still find one in good condition, and maybe even port and polish it yourself to improve it.

Yea...it could be a good idea but a supercharger can be just as abused as a turbo. I personally would just save the money and buy a new one because you dont know the damage that was pressured on that supercharger.

I think the blower is the same that they used on the 'ol thunderbird supercoupes. I'm not sure but thats what I had heard off of here. You can measure the clearence between the "fins" (can't remember what there called) and a bunch of other stuff that I can't remember BUT I do know that I got that info from a book.......its called 'all about superchargers' or something like that. I know that it's a common book and Summit racing sells it, there a big block on the cover w/a huge blower. Hope this helps you:)

The blower on the SC was considerably larger. It pushes 10-12 lbs (friend had one, I forgot) on 3.8L motor. Its all the JR can do to push that on a motor half the size.

CARTECH - HOW TO INSTALL AND USE SUPERCHARGERS,
