Im replacing a starter on a 86 cav, and I took the old one out, put the new one in.. and behold.. still doesnt work. I think I may have messed up on rewiring the new starter because when I turn the key, the car goes from powered to nothing. If anyone has a wiring diagram or anything that could help me out I would appreciate it. As far as I know.. there are two terminals for wires.. a small one which I believe is the switch, and the large one, which is the power. I connected 2 small wires to the switch, and 3 large gauge wires to the power. PLEASE help me this car has been sitting in my garage for a week.

hey i recently put a new starter on my 87 cavy and im pretty sure that the starter is the same so when i insatlled mine, there was 3 connectors. on which went from the solenoid to the starter motor itself. that should have been connected when u bought it but i might not have. the small conection should only have one wire on it. that is the swich (it has a small box on the end of the wire) the other cords should go onto the big connector. that would be your battery and other auxillary cords. let me know it it works and if that doesn't go to your local auto stora and pick up a manual, thats wat i did.

if anyone else could help me out Id really appreciate it, when I pulled out the first one, there were only two active terminals, the large one for the power wires and the small one I believe for the switch, I connected 3 large gauge wires to the power connector, and 2 smaller wires to the switch.. it didnt seem right to me either, but I couldnt remember taking it out any other way. Please help me out.
