Ok now i relize that people have posted about intakes b4 and i've read them but i have some diffrent questions.
For one, i was looking on ebay and they have intakes for the 91-94 models. Will that work on the 90 model cause i was thinking that there was no difference and that the ebay sellers were dumb but i wanted to make sure that i wasnt wasting my time/$$.
Second I want to know if i can get the 10 hp that i would get with a full cold air intake by just taking out the air box and adding a new round filter like a K&N or somthing to my existing plastic pipe, instead of purchasing the $200 injen intake with the pipe and everything. Will just a filter give me that kind of hp?

yes chuki, 10hp from an intake, 8-12 is the norm with a good one. but you can leave it on the stock crap, its pretty much the same except I think it gets hot a lot easier, but you could always get piping made and coat it inside and out with some type of ceramic silver paint(works good on heat shields too) and then put a cold air box around it to make it work even better. I don't know where a site with instructions on the 240sx is but heres one for the rx-7 it is basicaly the same thing, it will just look a bit different probably. http://www.fc3s.org/how_tos/engine/cold_air_box.html hope this helps

I have the Filtercharger from K&N and it is just an adapter that connects the cone filter to the MAFS. It does free up a little, but mostly at the high end. Not very noticable.

speaking of air filters, i have a injen, and at the moment, the front left wheel well has no lining, so the air is just coming up into the engine compartment thru a tube. there is no cold air box, but im guessing its a cold air intake, not sure. and another thing, my filter is like, almost black, but if i shake it or wash it, nothin comes out of it, its an injen filter, i think the original, and im not sure if it is sposed to be white.

thanks guys, so ur saying that i can just put a high performance filter on the existing plastic pipe and put a cold air box around it and i will get the same results as if i bought a $200 Injen cold air intake?!??!

just make sure that the intake taht you would like to get is legal, if not, you will just be getting a ticket for it. The reason for name brand like aem or injen is because they are carb exempt(meaning street legal) and it is tested to product more hp. Just make sure you get the right type of intake cause from 91-94 it is a different engine from the 89-90 engine. And zdude, I know intakes can be in different color(aem) I am not sure if injen makes them in different color....

I was kinda wondering the same thing with all this talk about HKS's intakes? Are they better than say cones?
