I have a 97 gt, and have a problem with the remote keyless entry, you have to stand next to the car before it works.
I have already installed new batteries in the fobs, and no change.
There is a TSB :73-90-09A NOV 97, that addresses this isue.
Does anyone have the information pertaining to this TSB, and what the fix is?
Thanks

Same as my 97 GTP. But my previous owner installed a remote starter, it comes with another keyless, and is far more distance to have it work.

Well, I have a friend tha haves a Ford and the keyless on that sucker is awesome. He can activate it from a block away. My GTP and all the GM's that come with factory alarm/lock system suffer this problem. Does not matter you changing the batteries or nothing. Looks like the frequency the use to transmit is crowded or weak. I do not know that exactly but I do know that all GM owners have the same problem with OEM lock/alarm system. I have a blazer and installed a GM alarm after and that one behaves like the Ford I mentioned. So I assume the problem is the factory installed Alarm/Lock systems

I also have a 2001 Pontiac Montana, and had a 92 Bonneville, and both of those could be activated from 50 to 60 feet away, the montana, you can actually activate from inside the house, the kidds were playin with the remote, and pressed the panic button, and horn went off.
