1993 740i

hello everybody

i recently bought a 93 740i and had it checked out,the block had just been replaced,(no problems and it runs perfect)the tranny was just rebuilt last year 5/02 no problems with it except the indicator on the dash shows the s-d instead of the e-d,i have replaced the switch and it did not cure the problem and sugestions?,other than that the car has 86000 miles on it.what should the gas milage be in this car?,it has the v8
and i think it is a 5 speed auto according to the book.any information would be helpfull.

thanks for the info,i have allready replaced the switch before i wrote the piece,what i am interested in is info on anything else that could be wrong.like computer loosing programming,wires that are know to wear or break,or if it will hurt the trany if it says sd on the indicator on dash when it should be placed in the s4 position.when i drive the car in the sd position the car shifts fine and no problems,when it is in the s4 there are also no ploblems,i just wanted to know since i do not know very much about these cars.thank again for the information.
