im probably going to buy a brand new 04 srt-4 after this semester instead of buying a used mustang gt because of the bumper to bumper warranty, plus having a new car vs a car with 50k for about only 8,000 more dollars. i was wondering what you mustang guys think about them? after all, they arent a v8, but at the same time people are pulling out 13.9's in the 1/4 with stock tires, which is pretty damn impressive. even though i like mustangs, i really like these new compacts.

I think get what you like and what is the better percieved value to you. Things I like about Mustangs that people who want to rant and rav about the Sti, Evo, Srt4 is:
#1 I like RWD in my fast cars not FWD or AWD
#2 I don't like 4doors for my street machine.
#3 V-8 rumble
Now I understand that these are kinds personal preference things. But that's why I don't like to get into arguements about Sti vs Cobra, SRT4 vs GT etc.., etc.., Those are qualities that any of those cars can never provide me. Not everything is just HP per dollar about cars.

I like the SRT-4 especially since they finally added LSD to them. I remember when they first came out I was really interested in them, checked out their forums every day. Couldn't tell you how many people complained about just spinning their tires when try to launch. I had htis video of some guy just spinning his tires, shifting into second, spinnignn some more, into third, still spinning. He moved about a foot fowards for the whole movie clip. And it wasn't even that cool since of course it was the front wheels spinning. But yeah, those are are pretty quick, and most peopel wouldn't suspect them to be fast, cept that they have no mufflers so they are loud as hell i hear.

I beat one and my car is slow....so what does that tell you? Stick with a Mustang and the RWD torque fun factor (sideways effect) :iceslolan ). Plus, if you want to keep that warranty, you can't mod it at all. Good Luck choosing.

yeah i always liked RWD, my car could get sideways as hell(300zx). but as far as not being able to mod your car to keep the warranty in tact isn't completely true. as long as your mod does not cause something to malfunction, then by law the dealership must service the car under the warranty. and for matt, if you beat an srt-4 its probably because it was an 03 that didnt have the LSD and the driver prolly sucked, because i dont know of ANY 5.0 mustangs with gears and exhaust that run 14 flat in the 1/4... maybe a 99+ GT but they have the 4.6

Well my specific race was on the street in a very low 2nd gear roll, all the way til I let off after I shifted into 4th. I'm not exactly sure how many cars I was up, but he was in my rear view enough so I could merge into his lane to avoid a car that was in mine. Yes it was an 03, though. And just becuase you don't know of any 5.0 Mustangs with just gears and exhaust that run a 14flat, doesn't mean that they don't exsist.

Hehe, only 14 flat? I was hoping for 13.99.

SRT-4's are damn quick. I was messing around with a modded one, and it kept up so I gotta respect 'em.
