I had a 97 2 eclipse that was stolen and totalled, now i am in the proccess of getting a new car, i really want a 98 or99 GS-T but i also heard the 2000+ GT v6's are a contender too. some help on what i should consider, i want a fast car and i know they are both fast, which one is a better option?

get a GSX... dont get a GST, get a GSX.

00+ Eclipse

2000+s are not fast -- they are an example of everything that is not fast

a first or second gen gst or gsx can be made pretty fast for relatively little $$, but be prepared to deal with problems that arise.

go gsx for awd + turbo goodness, but be prepared to do some extensive searching to find one even worth buying
go gst for cheaper to buy and easier to find, while still producing the same power of a gsx minus the awd

I believe the 160hp 2000+ celica is faster than the 200hp heavy weight eclipse GT.

i have a dead fish that can move faster then the 3g eclipses

but a 3G GT under 5lbs of boost moves quite nicely

true true but look at the $$ you'd have to spend to do that type of mod

if you want a fast car buy a turbo DSM, they are relativly cheap cars, easy to modify, cheap to modify, respond well to mods. there really isnt a down side to owning a DSM. but of course i might be a little biased.;)

Get a GS-T (FWD+Turbo) or a GSX (AWD+Turbo) ;)

downside to a DSM, especailly a turbo, is that they aren't the most reliable daily drivers

I hear that the 3gn gt's have lot of torque tho, are they just too heavy?

Any there is no way a 2000 celica can beat a 2000 eclipse GT, i had a 140 hp 97 GS that ate a celica

personally i don't like the looks of the 2000+ eclipses. they're just not as exciting as the previous ones. some say the 2000+ is too girly. (difference of opinion). plus the new ones are not as powerful as the old ones. the older GST and GSX re equiped with 210hps while the 2000+ only top out at 200hps i believe.

they are as reliable as any other car on the road, as long as your willing to do your maintenance, and dont abuse the car, they will take care of you. but if you decide you need to make shitloads of power all cars become unreliable, and even then they arent that bad. if a person is wanting to make big power, they are going to have to work on the car. when you make a lot of power you break things, its as simple as that.

well yea but it just seems that I have more problems with my eclipse then with all the other cars i drive  maybe its just cause i pay a lot mroe attention to everything thats going on under my baby's hood... lol

you're forgetting the turbos in the 2gs and the NT in the 3gs  the 3gs should never be grouped with the 1 and 2g DSMs

read my reply to your other post for an explanation of the "g" thing

as for the oil thing.. could be coincidence could be nothing.. i just pay a lot more attention to everything in my eclipse then i do with the other cars that i drive around at any givin time
