I have a 1995 camry 4 cyl. In one cylinder. the bottom part of the boot from spark plug wire came off. I cannot remove it. Can you take valve cover off without plugs removed and will this help me get the boot part off. How difficult is it to remove the cover? What do you have to do to remove the cover? Any other suggestions to remove boot part?
Thanks, CH-3

ch-3,

Try a long needle nose pliers to reach the boot and pull it out. If that doesn't work, try to get a 5/8 deep socket and shove it on right over the spark plug boot and remove the plug and the boot together. It should then be easy to remove the boot from the plug and then reinsert the plug.

If you have to remove the cam cover it's not tto difficult. You first remove the cover over one of the belts on the passenger side. Then the 4 wide thin nuts over the spark plug holes hold the cam cover on. I believe it is either a 32MM or a 36MM hex. If you take the cam cover off, just be sure to use a new gasket upon reassembly. All in all, not a bad job but it may not be necessary. Try the above first.

This happens to me everytime i change wires. 95 4cyl 2dr. I just use a combination of a butter knife, wire coat hanger and the spark plug socket, im a pro at getting them out now.

haha, this happened to my friend's car when we were changing the spark plugs as well, all we did was use a long screwdriver and tried to move it around to get it loose, then we used the racket set to get it out, when we did that the top part was bent to be able to stay on to the racket set while we lifted up.
