I was looking on the Greddy site and there wasnt a turbo kit for the 95, but there was one for the 96. Could someone explain the diff. here? :sly: I dont understand.

96 uses an OBD-II style ECU, as all cars after 1996 do.

But since im out to turbo the ka, should i be looking for a 96 instead of a 95?

I'd say your safest with a OBDII car should you want a kit. If you know what you are doing then it may not make too much difference either way. I prefer OBDII cars for the extra level of management you 'see' when you hook up to the data port.

However with a few gadgets an OBDI car can report the same information.

So if i dont put the kit on it and just peice the system together, the OBDII isnt really necessary to have. Or i can get by without it, and not run into serious problems.
And what is so different about the OBD-II than its counterpart OBD-I?

I HATE OBDII for the record. Its too complex and calibrated for stock, if you modify your car having obdII it is not as effective.

well understanding what ECU is a big key. You can't just piece together stuff...you will need to know what is needed to control them.

OBDI has less constraints than OBDII. One of the key differences is the check on a post cat O2 sensor. If it reads out of spec (usually bigger breathing mods will cause this) it will throw a CEL (check engine light)...if your CEL is on at inspection you automatically fail.

OBDII also allows for much more monitoring of sensors which is actually nice, however there is a lot of things not required so most manufacturers leave them out. The Corvette I know has a really complete function listing....

There are books on this though so it's really too much to discuss here.

There is plenty of discussion of what works on S13's which would be very close to what a 95 would need. As well as what works on late S14's.

I meant peicing(turbo,fmic,fmu,and everything else).
And i dont have to worry about inspections, i live in tn, there arent any.
Thanks SR20, if its too complex for someone who knows more than me, i dont want it.
