My 88 cavalier, automatic, 2.0 4 cylinder, is having quite the day today. This morning on my way to school, it started to sputter, and almost stalled, but i hit the gas in time that it didn't stall. i had the gas all the way to the floor and i was only going 15 MPH, then, it started making this noise that sounded like boiling almost, then i went to turn right, and my car was going left!! i almost hit like 3 people. I'm having the tow truck come and get it tonight, but i just want to know if anyone knows what could be the problem, and what to start with. The steering scares me the most tho.
 please help!

did you just say you turned the wheel right and the car went left???? you have a broken tierod or busted steering rack. i guess it's possible a broken rack could overload the power steering pump and rob the engine of power. the only other possibility is sticking brakes but i seriously doubt it there'd be smoke everywhere. get your steering fixed!!!
