sorry if this has been asked before, but what is a catback exhaust, is it good, does it make the car louder?

Cat-back exhaust is the general term for a new exhaust system from the catalytic converter - back. As opposed to Axle-back.
This is not a brand, it is just telling you what you get.

A catback exhaust doesn't necessarily increase the sound output, but the catbacks on the market now are louder than OE exhausts.
They are better than OE exhausts because they tend to be mandrel-bent (they maintain a constant cross-section, whereas typical OE exhaust piping is crush-bent, which means that cross-sectional area changes in the bends), so the gas can stay at the same velocity - a good thing.
