Less weight, Less power needed

I was looking at the Suzuki GSXR100 and saw its amazing performance numbers, 0-60 in 2.6 1/4 in 10.08 and decided to start a new project. since the GSX's ponies only have to move 4.4 pounds with a 170 pound driver on each the automotive equivalent for a 200hp civic would be (let me get my calculator) it would have to weigh 808 pounds to have the same ratio. Think of a completely gutted car with lightweight all around and can rev to 8500 RPM. Whoever gets it gets it if you dont go turbocharge your 2900 pound civic :loser:

Adding to the above the ratio would have to be 4.04:1 for the mathemtacally challenged. now say you did turbo the bastard and gave up some weight you could maybe keep the ratio or maybe even lower it. Some sticky tires and suspension pieces and you have one hell of a performer for less then the price of anyithng else. Spekaing of which i have a stripped Neon with 148 horsepower. Its fast and since it has the stock exhasut its a sleeper. With no hubcaps :banghead:

uh yah, we all know that a lighter car will be faster than than the same car with more weight

:flipa: :feedback: Then how come i dont see anyone with stripped down cars and near stock engines. This is a really light-on-thewallet cars thing. Its not being ghetto not when u have a nice car parked in ur garge and this in your sideayrd. its not ghetto when its clean and has no dents or paint chips .

because some of us use our cars for more than racing. I frequently have more than 2 people in my car so taking out the back seat is not an option. I dont want to hear every little rock hitting my car so taking the sound deadening out is not an option. I've already popped one of my tires like a month after i got my car so I like having the piece of mind that having the spare in my trunk gives me.
Most of our cars are also our daily drivers and we enjoy having the little creature comforts that they have.

Bullshit alert! What the hell are you talking about 4.4lbs??? Are you on the rock; the bike weighs almost 400lbs (370lbs or so).
And not all civics weight 2900lbs FYI; mine weighs 2044 stock. And to most (like me) spending $ to put in a new motor or do an engine swap is no big deal. So please take your stupid comparison between a car and a motorcycle and bring it to a different forum that will buy into your bull and actually care what you have to say; but I guess the fact that you admit to owning a NEON says it all on it's own. Some people...pure ignorance. :screwy:

lol where do "most (like you)" get the funds for a swap or a new engine? i work 45hrs a week, get over $11/hr, have 2 bills to pay, rent and the rest is mine and i never have enough for a swap. Man, if u can let me in on how u guys do this stuff no problem, please do. i been wanting to do a complete swap since ive had my automatic dx (6 months- 1 year) but everything is always way out of my reach funds wise. i want to switch to manual and get an engine that has many horses with big balls lol instead of my stock engine which has some horses with no balls and/ or deathly sick and diseased lmao fill me in, i wanna learn

Weight is a big deal.
Figure this.
A stripped civic EX will run almost exact times as a Civic SI. .1-.2 differential.

I wasn't talking about just shelling out a ton of $ easily out of pocket. If you want to go fast you have to spend $ to go faster, there's no other way. If it's between gutting your car or doing a swap then I'd think most people would save up $ when they can and do the swap no matter how long it took them. For the very least to do it for some form of comfort level. I'm not trying to say weight isn't an issue; I plan to take out my rear seats cause I don't need them. But I'm not planning on gutting my daily driven car to get better 1/4 mile times. For an all out race car then of course you'll gut the car.

ok, i have a 93 dx with automatic tranny, the only thing i have in my interior is the dash, the carpet, the headliner and the front seats... everything else i stripped. I got a short ram intake, NGK plugs, and no name wires. I have an aftermarket cat converter and i ordered a Tenzo Venturi exhaust, and my car is lowered about 2.5 inches right now................how much quicker u think my car would be than the stock times it runs???? just wondering......................................... .................................................. .................................................. ................................................i know it is slow as hell cause its auto, ill be switching to manual ASAP

Civic's at 2900 pounds? What are you smoking? The heaviest Civic as far as I know is the Civic Si at ~2700 pounds. The 7th gen Civics weigh 2400-2500 pounds more or less. The earlier generation Civics weighs less I think.
Reason people dont gut their car out is the car is multi-purpose and not just for racing.
