Fuel Filter 02 Suburban

I am attempting to replace the fuel filter. The filter has a spring loaded disconnect on one end. Each autoparts store suggests a different tool and each tool is too tall. Does anyone know which proper disconnect tool to use?

I changed my 2002 2500 filter.
I don't remember anything special other than an unusual metric size wrench, like 18mm or 20mm.
