How much faster of acceleration would the car get for every hundred pounds you take out of the car. Because the other day I had two other people in the car with me, both weighing like 140lbs each, the spare, jack and all that other stuff inside. We we raced this neon r/t down the road and we beat them easily. the neon weighs about 2500lbs, and they had two people inside who weighed much less than us. So would the car go faster if my two friends, and all the equipment in the back isnt there? ( it would take more than 300lbs off the car i think)

i have a question for all u p10 and 99 p11 owners. i need for u to do some testing for me....please. well here's my problem , well it's not really a problem it's an annoyance. i need u guys to push second gear to redline and shift to third and tell me what rpm your cars go to after that shift. i have a 2000 p11 and it has the shortened 1st and 2nd gear but for some reason 3rd seems to be taller than my friends p10. My car pulls strong 1st and 2nd but 3rd seems to sit there for a second and then pull. my car catches at about 4900.(second to third upshift). thanx

koojo - if i remember correctly, for every 100 lbs. taken off, you shave about a tenth of a second down the quarter mile. this is just approximate figures...it's all in the driving ;)

Chris

Only a tenth of a second seems a little un-much. I fyou took 3000lbs out, that would be 3 seconds. That doesn't seem right. To me, maybe .4 second from the quarter. EVERY CAR IS DIFFERENT. Just use you best judgerment based on power and weight.

Hahaha...I wonder how fast the car will be if you take off the whole top of the car (all the metal), and leave the engine, seats, and floor?

Chris

Oh, I recton a .5 second quarter at 550mph.:hehe: :hehehe: :spit:

did you know that glass is the heaviest material in the car, heavier than steel panels. Probably why the new Z has such little glass view

Chris

I don't belive that. What about huge chunks of iron, it is very heavy. Are you sure?? If it is, I will yank out the glass and replace it with iron, and wear infra-red goggles to drive:D

They need to figure out a lighter and stronger method to glass then. isnt there something else they can use?

A lot of the performance model cars, ie Integra Type R, use a lightweight glass. This saves a whole lot of weight. I wonder if this is avaliable for the Primera. I have full glass insurance, doesnt cost a thing to replace a full windscreen. I could just get it replaced with a lightweigth model. Sounds a bit dodgy though!

There is a glass replacement: Perspex. (probably misspelled). Usually race cars use it. It is light. I don't know much about it though.

OK, so who is going to be the first to drop some lexan windows in their G20 (or Primera)? I think it would be even better if it's in your street driven car :D Oh yeah, and a carbon fiber body would be nice too, just like the Altezza at the SEMA show.

i donno about you guys, but I like driving my G20 as a luxury car, not a sports car. I like to keep the image that I own the road by good looks and confident composure. hell if you wanna get a dragster, get a different car. by the time you spent thousands of bucks on engine mods, you can make a downpayment on a sports car. we're in the age of breaking the 5sec barrior for street cars, not 6 or 7. 7sec area is what most sport coupes can do anyways. so I say take it easy on your accelerator and smooth driving! :D

I usually don't criticize what people say here but this takes the cake... I guess next we'll be comparing lawn mowers to civics? Hey wait a minute that CAN be done :)

I'm tired and that seemed to funny

Wow doodle do 824. your car must be putting out more than 145 h.p. Compare the power to wieght ratio of the G20 with other cars that do 0-60 between 7 & 8 seconds you might be surprized. yes the 1st & 2nd gears are shorter but the 2000 G red lines at about 6750 and can't go to the 7300 rpm fuel cut off . So the difference might not be as big as you think it is. oh yeah reading is a good way to find out information:bandit:

anyone try the G-Tech plug-in performance meter? maybe we should get one of these and time ourselves. :D one of those gadgets that caught my eyes. hehe.

Ya its a little expensive for a little thing like that i think, so maybe if we do a group buy or something and get it cheaper, then it be cool. would that work?

yah, I might just get one just for the hell of it. I can time my other cars too. :)

the gtech really isn't that expensive when u consider all that it does,,i had mine at the track in englishtown when i had the sentra and i ran like a 16.49 and the gtech read 16.52. for 130 bucks it's a lot of fun. the only thing not accurate was the trap speed,,,the actual speed was 83 and the gtech read 90. But it's a good tool when you are doing upgrades. it will definatly tell you if the upgrade was worth it. and if u are not willing to shell that much; buy and charge people like 5 bucks to use it...needless to say mine paid for itself..lol

oh yah, when you use the GTech, you're suppose to input the car weight, right? I have a P11, so about 3,000lbs? do I add in my body weight in there too, or does a few hundred lbs not gonna make too much of a difference?

doodledo824

you only have to input weight when measuring horsepower other wise it's just plug it in and go.
