intercooler without turbo?
praxis

would it be beneficial to add an intercooler if I don't have a turbo. I know that the purpose of the intercooler is to cool down the air running through the turbo before it goes into the intake. I was just thinking...how much does it cool it down. If you were to take normal intake air and cool it even more via an intercooler...hmmm.

arospeed has an cold front intake that looks like a intercooler

The heat that is built up in a turbo is very high. This is why a intercooler is needed. Putting an intercooler on a N/A engine would be useless, its going to add more weight then the cooling benefit it would provide. To get air cold enough for increased performance in a car without alot of weight you need to go to N02.

the ambient air going into the intake isnt any warmer than the ambient air outside of the car. one word: USELESS.

Gosh darn it to heck!!! Thought I had a good idea.
I was going to add nitrous but SCCA doesn't allow it and in my region they won't let you race even if you are just hooked up with juice and have no bottle.

well if you wanna stay naturally aspirated you need to toss that d16 and get a b16 or a b18c motor, thatll give you some power.

NO THANKS...I have a secret build up plan that is going to laugh at a B series (wishfull thinking)...I just like being the underdog...that's all.
But I will laugh at a B series if I go SC.
How bad would a B series owner look getting beat by a D16?:smoker:

I agree with there being no way you can get 400 out of a d16 but you can build a B Series N/A over 250

Im sorry someguy, but I really have to say this.
Have you ever noticed how common completly redesigned suspension components are for the Mustang? even the new ones.
While Hondas get a good range of adjustable coilovers and thats it. Unless you want expensive lightened parts, which are exactly the same as the stock parts.
Someone needs to explain to Ford that the round wheel shaped thing in frount of the driver is ment to be just as functional as the pedal on the right hand side. :D
Now while we're on the topic, (or off the topic as the case maybe) How is your car coming along?

400hp out of a D16Z6 all-motor?
I don't even have to explain why it won't work :D
Seeing as how Honda "only" got around...260 (approx.) out of their F1 1.5Ls. (Methanol right Moppie? i dunno...i'm guessing)

um...what thread is this? And why is still open?
Anyway...there was an article about a 1.5L civic hatch, in one of the magazines, non vtec that ran 11's. Pretty impressive, eh? He had a carb. running to each intake port. I am sure that it was extremely expensive. I was merely stating that I like to be the underdog.
400+ hp???

400hp from a D series engine is possible. and it wouldn't surprise me if it hasn't already been done.
However you won't do it with only $1800, and theres no way it will be a streetable engine, or for that matter a relaible race engine.
As a project for an enginer and profesinal engine builder with to much time and money on thier hands its a pluasible idea.
For a kid with a dream, it will remian a dream.

You don't have to tell me the stock suspension is basically junk. The only thing it really has going for it is that you can fit real big tires (275s on the front). Other then that, its a big hunk of steaming stamped steel crap.

Yeah, but I've never seen a Civic with adjustable control arms, adjustable bump steer, 315s, and Alcon 6 pot brakes on the front, and 500 hp at the rear either. Is it where you start or where you finish? :)

At least they aren't using those square wheels anymore. Those were horrible.

Hmmm... They might have go back to them since some guy in Austrailia just patented the wheel. No kidding.
