Need help - swapping 6.5 diesel to HO 350

Tomorrow I was to have my truck towed to get the 6.5 diesel rebuilt. I've not been able to get comfortable with spending 5G to have a flawed low performance engine again and have decided to go back to gas. I think for less money I can put in a new complete carbed 330 HP 350 from GM if I do the install. I know this engine would bring a smile where the diesel would just have me worried about another failure.

I'm trying to think what obstacles I'll encounter. Here's what comes to my mind. I'd sure appreciate any help.

1) Accessories. Don't know if I can just get 350 brackets and use my existing AC, alternator, power steering?

2) Motor mounts. Plan to get new - should bolt in.

3) Exhaust. Manifolds from wrecker? Could do headers - I hear they can be a nuisance, worth the cost?

4) Radiator/Shroud. Plan to get fan from wrecker. Don't know if fan on 350 will line up? Maybe just change shroud?

5) Clutch. Has 5 sp (like it). Will need flywheel, likely clutch parts too?

6) Gauges. Plan to get gasser guages from wrecker (tach is different).

7) Fuel Pump. Put mechanical pump on 350 and toss diesel lift pump?

8) Fuel. Drain diesel and flush lines!

9) Starter. Just get 350 starter and hook up?

10) Dual battery system. Can't see why it should be any problem.

11) Air Filtering. Scrap GM box, just use under-hood filter, maybe make a custom snorkel for cold air?

I know I'm missing things. Any advice welcomed.

Thanks
Arlie

Never mind. Planning to go to a real diesel (Cummins). Gathering info. If you know about this feel free to reply.
Thanks anyway.

Curious about your engine failure-I have app. 40 pickups at work, 6.2 and 6.5, some turbo, have suffered 1 engine failure due to a blown oil cooler line. Many of these trucks have 200K+ Miles. Pump problems are commen, replacing the driver usually cures the shutting off problem. We do service our trucks at 6K miles with 15-40 CD motor oil. What let loose in yours?

Oil cooler fitting let go at the block. After this mishap I found out this is very common. GM has done nothing to address it.
If you haven't already changed out to proper fittings and flexible lines on your other trucks do it quick. You cannot shut it off quickly enough to save the engine if this happens.
With the block cracks and head cracks and cooling problems, plus limited power I just couldn't bring myself to invest in rebuilding the 6.5.
