I have the 2.8L TBI motor in a 93 s10 pickup.....It seems a lot of people in here have code readers or code pullers....Anyone tell me which would be a good idea to have?
Thanks

On a 93 you can pull codes with a paperclip and reset the computer by disconnecting the battery for a while, a scanner is more usefull than a code reader in that it will show you sensor data(throttle position, oxygen sensor, etc) and operational data(fuel trims, injector pulse time,)

check out ebay for an actron CP9110 - thats ur best bet. Both it and the auto xray 240/340 are sorta crippled, the snapon modis is not as crippled but they all have SEVERE OBD1/2 limitations.
Never fear, Im writing a new one ground up to fix this and it will run on laptops.
Thanks

Eh The M.O.D.I.S is by means in no way Crippled, However unless u wanna spend in excess of 6K for one u better stick with an Actron.

oh yeah it is, especially in the way of OBD1 GM..it suffers from the same ills as all the others, gm used so many data stream definition files that they programmed it basically with legacy software to only get the key parameters, since I am writing a new GM model that will break each data stream down into self defining positional terms, a lot like using IBMS AR data flows, I will give access to every byte of the data stream(s), not just some.
and btw, the modis is $9K+yearly license
ps - I will start posting some of the modules I have written on the 60degreev6 forum in a week or so so others can use them to customize whatever datastream reader they have- a lot of people just grab the specific mask for their car and dont care about the others. My goal is complete GM coverage

if you want a very cheap code reader go to walmart and you can get a code reader for a 93 for $20. It comes with the book and will also check abs codes.
