I was looking at adding a supercharger instead of twin turbos. I kind of want something different.
what are some pros and cons, The one i looked at added 80 hp on the fly wheel i am assuming that this is better or more constant power than turbos is that correct?

well there are pros and cons to both. Superchargers work with belts, so the power is always there, you don't have the notorious turbo lag when waiting for them to spool, if that's what you mean by more constant power. However, the downside of supercharging is that it requires power to keep it going.(whereas turbos run off exhaust gases, and steal no power) Superchargers will steal some of the power you are creating. Also, if heavily modding your car is in your future plans, turbocharged applications have the potential for more power output.
Either way you go, you car will still be quick. I also think thats pretty cool to try and take the road less traveled. I have a friend who just dropped a new engine in his 84 trans am and is now looking at twin-supercharging it. That would be sweet if something like that were possible for our cars. So do your research and good luck with whatever direction you take.

I was rereading that and I didn't want to come off sounding like turbos are always better. So, in defense of the superchargers, not only do they eliminate lag, they are also simpler, easier to install, and more reliable/easier and cheaper to repair (I'm not saying turbos don't last, I am just saying, they are prone to more abuse).

Cool thanks for the info really appreciated. Dont mean to be a nag, but what about the 80 hp at the fly wheel. where is the turbos hp somewhere else? that might be a stupid question but didnt quite understand that

Nah, that just means that it is 80hp, in the typical sense of the word. See, hp is lost throughout the chain of moving parts that connects the engine to the wheels. So some talk about hp to the wheels. Generally, about a 1/3 of our cars total hp is lost between the engine and the wheels, (thats where we suffer alot because of the All Wheel Drive platform, and why RWD cars, such as the supra, catch up with us at higher speeds ). All this hp is lost because it has to turn parts in our cars to direct all the power to the wheels. Essentially, Wheel hp is flywheel hp minus all the power lost in between(tranny, driveshaft, etc) So you will have a higher hp number at the flywheel or engine then at the wheels. Manufacturers typically advertise flywheel hp because it is more and therefore more impressive. So if you are getting 80hp out of the supercharger added to your SL, you're looking at 302hp(if my math is correct).

turbos take power to turn them too. restriction in the exhaust is power robbing, turbos are a huge resriction.

So what is the opinion on 3si they are tlaking about a ripp supercharger in development. I would be willing to drop a grand if i knew of a few people who could back what they did. Sending 1000 dollars to someone for a product that may or may not get devloped by a company you have never heard of isnt the brightest idea. But this one guy was telling me that the horse power would be like a 130-150 gain he got something like a 100 gain on the one they make for SOCH engine. Anyone heard of "RIPP"
