SO I AM MAKING A RIGHT ONTO ONE THE MAIN ROADS OUT HERE IN FAIRFIELD CA AND I NOTICED THIS STANG WAS PULLING HELLA HARD FROM BEHIND ME. IT IS A TWO LANE ROAD SO I THOUGHT HE WAS JUST GOING TO FLY RIGHT PASS ME INSTEAD HE RIDES MY ASS SO I JUST SWITCH LANES. HE PULLS UP NEXTY TO ME AND KEEPS REVING. I WAS IN 3RD DOING ABOUT 35- 40 HE DROPS IT AND SO DID I INTO 2ND HE PULLED ON ME MY FRONT BUMPER WAS AT HIS PASSENGER DOOR 3RD GEAR VTEC WOW CAR JUMPS NOW HIS FRONT BUMPER IS AT MY BACK BUMPER I SHUT IT DOWN CAUSE THERE ARE TOO MANY COPS ON THIS STREET. FROM WHAT I COULD TELL HE HAD SOME FLOWMASTERS AND INTAKE YOUR BASIC PARTS THAT MAKE MUSTANG DRIVERS THINK THERE HOT. SO FAR 2 KILLS NOT BAD

Well Mustangs 89 or lesser model. What can I say. As many other american cars they are piece of shit engines. Stock they would be a good match for a civic dx. A civic EX can smoke em real bad when they are stock. A friend of mine who has a silver 89 with nothing done to the motor, it is automatic has raced me when I used to drive a 2001 automatic EX. And he would never jump on me, not even on the start, we both floored it from zero and i would get 4 or 5 cars up to 60 mph. Now that I have my SiR manual I can pull up to 8-9 cars. So pathetic for a 5.0.

The old 5.0 has a hard time breaking 200 at the wheels in a much heavier chassis. I think that run 15+ second ET stock. If your car is really running 12s or 13s then you should have murdered him.

Everytime I see you post my jaw just drops when I see what you have done to that thing and the amount of power you have gotten out of it. Those Hp numbers are up there with an E46 SMG, plus you got a lot less weight.

I havn't seen lots of track time with it mostly becuase I work way too much and the very few times I bring it down, I end up having problems. The car is pretty quick the way it is now even though it won't rev all they way out. If you were to follow the same plot on the dyno chart, it should make close to 300whp at 8K rpm, but the shitty internal wg keep popping open. I bought a new manifold and external wg but I decided to just wait and put it on the motor we are building now. It will be a fully built b20 with a fully built b16a head. Then the civic will be gutted into a racecar once I get another daily driver.

But in relation to this thread, I wouldn't raise the BD flag. I have seen GSRs take stock 5.0s many times. The old 5.0 fox body is pretty unimpressive stock.

You are right about one thing, the fox body 5.0 stangs are cheap now just to buy them and can be made to run respectable times with a small amount of money just like alot of v8's.

You are right, calling that motor a POS is a very biased, un-educated statement. Ford didn’t make it very aggressive out of the factory, but they left a hell of a lot of room for improvement. I have lots of buddies making serious amounts of power on the stock 5.0 block. Just the other day at work I was walking past some of the “import posers” (you know the people who don’t know their elbow from their ass but all claim to run <12’s) Anyways, I heard the comment “all domestics are pieces of crap” I stopped and turned around to see a kid I recongnize that drives a rsx type S (a very high 15 sec one at that), I said to him.. Are you fucking retarded, there are about 1000 bone stock GTs in this town that would walk all over your “modded” rsx all day. Needless to say, he shut his mouth.

I am pretty sure that NOBODY said that the old stock 5.0's were fast. It is common knowledge that those cars are slow. Go race a 2000+ 4.6 GT, it will more than likely eat you stock. Speaking for the old mustangs, a friend of mine has a late 80's early 90's 5.0. All he has is a intake, exhuast, a 65 shot, and some slicks. I have seem this car run 12's all day. The total of the car when he bought it plus the mods is was like 3K.

MOST 4-cylinder N/A cars can take it??? Uh, I don't think even in Mexico that that is true, unless your buddy's 5.0 is running on cooking oil, and/or only has three working cylinders.

I thought that the 89s had the roller motor in them. Isn't it rated at 225hp? I don't know much about them, you'll have to forgive me. Either way you still beat a 5.0 (unless you're lying). They aren't exactly fast, but it's an accomplishment.

What do you mean how am I going to address the sleeves? I am going to send the block out to get sleeved and assembled. I don't have all the specifics yet, but I do know that I want to run at least a 10:1 CR.

DkShadow might be onto something. It sounds as if this Mustang is a 2.3L I-4 with 5.0 badging or the Mustang engine has serious compression issues. Either way, it sounds as if this Mustang is a hoopty that needs some T.L.C.

I wonder about it havin a 4cyl too, I have a 92' Lincoln MarkVII and it has the very same 5.0L HO V8 as the stangs of that same year, not to brag or anything but i havent lost a race to a 4cyl yet, and why should I with twice the cylinders and almost twice the power?

he took the motor out of his turbo coupe and threw it in the mustang ill need to get pics or something that thing is a monster

he ran a 14.6 untuned, broken boost controler and on some old ass tires he got out of the tire bin at his work so it would pass inspection

hes waiting on parts so he can convert to 5 lug and throw on his cobra wheels

A stock '93 cobra will go 0-60 in about 5.5 seconds. Thats pretty fast stock, especially because all that low end torque means you are always on the power-band.

His IS a 5.0 liter Im sure. Ive raced other mustangs, stock for stock I take them. The Mustang Gt 98 or lower is a good match for me, and I can take them, even if theyre 4.8 liters...theyre all automatic here so its a pretty even race, mustangs from before that version are slow slow stock.
