Here's my latest project, the Tamiya R32 Skyline GT-R. Only have a couple of pics @ this moment, haven't got much time to work on it...school is much more important

Anyway, it's going to be box stock, only the OZ Futura's added and some detail on the engine. Oh, and and front bumper is somewhat modified on the side air intakes.

Here goes

Very kool start, Im going to keep this in a close watch since i am going to start my R32 in a couple of days :evillol: , messed around with it last night, trying to cut the holes for the vents that go ontop of the center vent thingie. It was a pain in the arse i must admit, the rims look really cool, i wish my R32 came with rims like those

Major setback!

The primer had been curing for the last week, so today was going to be PAINT day...Got everything working, spraycan warmed, gloves and glasses on, etc...when I saw that the primer on the roof AND on the trunklid was a little dark...!!
CAUSE?! Body oil! I must have touched the body before I primed it without noticing...
:banghead:Now I'll have to strip the primer on those spots and re-prime them...

Damn, another week...:disappoin

Looks like a promising project. Too bad about the primer. Here's my :2cents:
Get a food dehydrator. That completely dries the paint in less than an hour. There was a thread on this subject quite some time ago. Hope this helps.

wrong choice in color. no tamyia spray replicates nissans gunmetal gray. Their gunmetal gray just isn't right and the gunship gray you chose is a VERY matte colour

Finally got to paint the body...and chose Mica Blue after all...
Haven't got any pics yet, but just wanted to hear some opinions on the wheel colour...
Leave them chrome or paint them:
white,
gold,
black or any other combination/colour?

Finally able to post some pics..!
Sorry about the lighting, those were taken in the morning, in just 5 mins..
The paint job is not that great, still has some orange peel, but hey..gonna live with it.
The parts that I'm most proud of are the shocks. Hand painted with no masks at all..eheheh :D
Anyway, enjoy the pics.

Thanks for all the nice comments, guys.

I have been quite busy with college, but got to make some progress on the "beast" :D.
The body is almost complete, but unfortunatly, I screwed up the bonnet when applying the CF. Aparently, too much Microsol melts the plastic...!! It's warped on one side, and has a little dent on the other...Oh well..Live and learn, live and learn..
I don't have a camera, so pics will have to wait a few more days (weeks??)

Once again, thanks for viewing!

Well, I finally managed to take some pics, although in very, very poor conditions (artificial light). As I said earlier, I screwed the bonnet..but I think it came out ok. After all, it will be displayed open, so..
I scratchbuilt the rearview mirrors, the exhaust (final part), added cigarrette paper on the underchassis and the engine bay is still under major detail work.
The interior is the worst part of all, with rushed sloppy painting, but it was an experiment..I'll live with it.
Enough talking, here are the pics:

Hot, what colour is that, looks blue not grey, sorry if i missed where you posted what colour it was, must have missed it if so.

Love it, one thing though, paint the lower lip flat black like on the real thing. :)

pettercardoso
05-06-2004, 02:47 PM
spollin, it is in fact blue. I changed my mind during the build about the color. The TS-48 I had laying around was just too flat, so I opted for a different approach:
1 black mist coat
1 red mist coat
2 mica blue wetcoats. It has a certain purple hint to it under the right light :D
And yes, I am going to paint the lower lip black, just waiting for my paint order to arrive to my LHS..

scamp, those rims are the Fujimi 18" OZ Futuras

Tonioseven AND spoolin12: it is a great honor to hear that from you! Seeing all your work has been very inspiring to me! :D Thank you!
