I see a lot of performance upgrades for the 3.8 liter, but my wife got dusted by a little jap car and now she's pissed. What kind of options do I have for the 3.1 to get it a little better. Also, does anyone know if you can swap the performance shift option from a gt or gtp into a 3.1? Thanks as always

Well, I'd suggest ditching the stock intake box and putting a cone filter in your bay. I'm not sure which vehicle your talking about but if possible, I'd fabricate or purchase a fenderwell intake setup if the vehicle allows for it. You can also increase your exhaust piping size slightly or throw on a straight through performance muffler, but if you go too large on that engine you'll find low end torque lagging badly. The 3.8 and 3.1 don't use the same transmissions and they don't have the same engine computer programming, so I seriously doubt the performance shift option. I don't ever remember hearing about performance shift being available for a 3.1 period. You may want to have the stock exhaust manifolds ported out too, I'd imagine it would offer some hp gain. There are alot of Japanese cars out there that can spank on a 3.1 vehicle, so if your wife gets too frustrated, put her in a Regal GS or a GTP and go for a pulley swap :grinno:

I got the new air filter on order and fwi is in the process, what's involved with porting the exhaust manifolds? I was thinking of getting a set of headers, but do you think that would kill my low end, or what little low end it has? Also know of any places I can find a cam for it?
