Type R redline

Okay wtf I just googled like 10 different websites all showing my ctr engine as having a 9,000rpm redline, but in real life my fuel cutoff is at 8,400. Is that normal? I know it's pointless to rev to 9k because peak hp is way back at 8,200 but I want know if something is wrong. Could it be an ecu problem?

it could be your fuel pump is not upto par, are you using the b16b one or are you using the stock model. the pump may not be able to handle the extra fuel cunsumption at such high revs, and it seems as if your car is at the fuel cutoff wherein reality, it just cant push enough into the rail

Tonight I redlined in third just to see it again and I looked back and saw some smoke through my friend's headlights behind me. I've got a Walboro 255lph and the stock b16b injectors, but all the fuel lines are from the DX except the foot-long main feed line from the filter to the rail. Maybe my fuel filter needs replaced? I'm at 60k miles and have never changed it. Another thing could be it really does go to 9k but my tach isn't calibrated that well up there. My tach only reads to 8k and the needle pushes past that :). I'll change the filter and see what goes..

Do you have the correct ECU? You have a B16b motor, right? Damn, I can't remember, ugh! :bloated:

IF correct ECU, I might fault your tach since it doesn't number above 8k, but also doesn't in some cars the ECU set to cut off fuel above the absolute redline point? My D16 motor for example can readline up to 6700 RPM I hear, but my car (ECU probably) won't even let it shift over 6300 RPM. Just a safety measure I guess. I'd like to be able to let it hit it's REAL redline, but whatever. Probably looses off power above 6300 anyways.

Yeah it's a B16B and it came with it's stock ecu I think/hope. I mean the car has a 125mph speed limiter too so who knows.. I just went out and bought a new Si fuel filter, I'm thinking the DX one that hasn't been changed for 60,000 miles could be causing fuel loss while revving that high. If it doesn't fix the problem oh well it was only $27 and needs replaced anyways.
