Floating RPMs

I had no other way of stating my problem so im just gonna call it floating RPMs. Ok my problem is on a 90 accord EX. When im moving and changing gears i noticed that when i press the clutch in to change gears my RPMs float for about 1-2 secs then dropping instead of dropping instantly. Sometimes it rises 100-300 RPMs depending on my engine speed when changing gears. I have a feeling the problem is coming from the clutch/flywheel area cuz my thottle body is working properly and usually when im about to accelerate in first i hear this weird squealing sound of some type that is pretty loud and embarassing. Can you guys please help me as much as possible? thanx ppl!

does it do this in other manual cars that you've driven? could be sticky feet on the gas pedal while pressing the clutch.

it could be your throw out bearing not disengaging properly after contacting the clutch, like its getting stuck, then releasing on its own.

Either one of those sounds perfectly resonable to me.

When you press in your clutch the RPM's increase? Then it is not your clutch, disengaging your clutch will not cause the car to rev higher. You pedal assembly may be jaming, or your clutch pedal may as well. Clean them off with brake clean and re lube them see if that helps.

If it were just still maintaning rpm with no change for a few seconds then i may suspect the clutch, but i dont think that is it. Cause you mentioned that it increases rpm on some ocasions. But i could be wrong. Good luck with that

I dont think im that bad of a driver. I used to drive my truck (that was 5 spd) and it never did that. Also the first week i got my car i started to notice it and thought all cars (not trucks) did it and firgured it was normal until i started to think that that did make sense. So i test drove my friends teg (5 spd) and it didnt do that. Cant be my driving cuz i driven 3 cars (5 spd) including my are and only mines did that.

What FDTT said about the pedal assembly could be a possibility cuz my clutch pedal sticks out a little further than my break pedal. I thought the brake and the clutch pedal are usually at the same height. Since my RPMs does rev a little more occasionally i guess the my gas pedal could be getting jamed. Where in the car should i try using the brake cleaner on? Inside or engine bay area? Dont really know where these locations are usually located. No problem.

For the brake cleaner, look in your footwell and clean off the hindge points of the pedals, use a bit of brake cleaner, a rag and maby even an old tooth brush. Get them good and clean then use some grease or other lube to lubricate the hindge points.

Also you may want to try to find the throttle cable assembly, check to see if there are any kinks in the cable that may cause it to get stuck, if there are none spray some lube down the cabel and push the gas pedal. Repeat this a few times, do the same with the other cables too (just for a service). And then see if it happenes again.
