Help removing console '99 GranPrix

Have read all excellant posts about gear stuck in park and unable to remove key. I've got the same problem. I'm trying to remove the console on my '99 GranPrix. I've removed 2 bolts in center well, 4 bolts and plate at half-mast. The console still won't come free. Am I missing additional bolts under the ashtray? How will the console slip over the gear stick?

Okay Im taking it as if you removed the bolts that are in the center consule under the holder thing. (where you can put things, under that) If im right you need to take to top piece off to get to the other bolts holding the center consule in place. Lift up on the top piece starting where you removed the holder for your stuff. Work you way down the piece theres like 10 tabs holding it in, there pretty strong. Wiggle it around to get out.

theres a clip holding the shifter knob on it's like a really long staple should be near the bottom pointing of the knob. pry it out with a small screwdriver or pick then the handle should pull straight off.
