ok i got my hks super drager cat back on my 98 gst yesterday.
everything's great except that it rattles when i'm at idle. it seems like something's loose, but i tightened the bolts, drove around for a while, then tightened them again.
do i need to replace the hangers with something more sturdy?
the rattle is driving me nuts, but the exhaust tone is DEEP.
anyone else experience anything like this??

Is is only when you are at idle, and where is the rattle coming from.
Get under there do you see any thing shaking.

I use to have exhaust rattling EVERYTIME I hit 3Krpms,
I just replaced engine mounts and and put the missing bolts back in. rattling is gone now for me.
should be easy for u to find though since its at idle, just jack it up and listen

ok so the rear section with the muffler seems to be the source of the rattling. upon further inspection, it looks like the pipe is hitting a bar. i'll go take a pic and post it up in a sec. it's mad annoying though and i started to notice it while driving.

ok here's some pics...joe, i'm not welding it. i need to remove it when it's time to get warranty work! :naughty:
sorry if the pic is crappy, but i'm not gonna get it up on jackstands for another few hours when i hopefully figure out a way to stop the rattling...

Well, thinking of ways to fix your problem.. you could either put something heat-resistant between them to keep them from moving, or try to adjust the exhaust to not touch. Rubber would be nice, but I don't think that would be a good idea.

i ended up placing the pins from the rear section of the muffler through the center of the hangers. i reinforced them with a universal hanger. it's a straight 6 inch piece of rubber with holes to mount the pins. it held really strong and moved the pipe up enough to where it no longer hits. problem solved!
thanks for the suggestions! now, off to mardi gras austin style!! :evillol:

yes sir, it goes over the axle just like stock.
it's 2.5" diameter. i know i should've done 3" but it'll do for now. i'll probably upgrade again when i swap in a 16g...but that won't be for a while.
hey fourg63, what kind of wheels do you have? what's the size? do you have any side/closer pics you can post? sorry, just trying to figure out what size to go with for mine...
