R32. I like smaller cars. I love 'em all though. It's kind of biased putting that 400R into the mix.

why is it biased putting the 400r into the mix? All of these(except for R35 of course) are modified monsters! I think that they are all comparable. I would go with the R34, though I do really love the R33. R34 has a more "godzilla"ish image. ;)

Well, the 400R is a production model (produced by Nismo) wheras the others are just modified. That's like comparing the Koenig Ferrari 355/360 to the regular Ferrari 355/360. Catch my drift? I suppose in this case (because they're all modified) it wouldn't be so bad, I just saw it that way.

Well, this isn't exactly right, it would be more like

It's also more of a special order car. Most Japanese super cars have "under" 300 bhp stock.

i think that the R32 is still a mean little godzilla..the R33 is a bigger more refined car,and the R34 is just too much to call it a true sports car..from how i see it anyways.my choice and what im trying to buy,is the R32 GT-R,if i find a R33 at a decent price i will consider it,but im not going near the R34..

Yeah, I eluded to the fact that all were modified later in that post.
Aren't all Japanese cars under 280 hp?<winks suspiciosly> Isn't that a production limit? Some mag did a dyno on a stock Skyline GT-R and found that it was well over (hp-wise) stock specs of 276hp. Nissan did this to pass regulations, but to still have a killer car!

I have driven many R32 GTR, two R33 GTR and the R34 25GTt. I own an R32 GTS4, which is basically a 2 litre Godzilla. It is kitted out, features after market computer, big bore, GFB BOV and other stuff. I have to say that all GTR tend to drive like a train on tracks. They have a point and shoot quality about them. I have only ever had one hairy incident in a R32 where no car could've handled. The car basically did a 720 degree spin and ended up facing the same way I started. There was no damage at all, and the car (after it stalled, but I think if it was'nt for me freaking out it could've kept on going) started up an drove off straight away. I now have a lot of faith in the GTR as a whole. The R33 was a bit heavy, a completely different machine. The R34 25GTt, although not GTR is wicked mate! Floor it and it burns out, and has tonnes more features than the standard production models of the R33 and R32 series.
I personally prefer the R32 as a classic supercar. I would keep one in the garage as a bread and butter daily driver if you know what I mean. But having driven each series, I would have to reserve judgement, and wait for the next generation Skyline, if it becomes a reality! The GPS, traction control, lighter weight and more refined design of the R34 makes me think that I should save my pennies and get an R35.
WYKKED - If that is you pictured in front of your Z, then I would be quite happy to have you pass me. In fact, if that is you, you could do pretty much anything you like :) (you go girl!)
The truth of the matter is that you are'nt really comparing apples with apples. The Z is 3 litres, and rear wheel drive only. The GTR has a smaller engine. So sweet heart, if you are comparing your 3 litre car with a 2.6 litre car, then I guess that is good for Skylines. The unfortunate revelation is that most Z's look pale in comparison to the GTR. Sad really since the Z's are really well setup. I considered buying one, but they are way way too heavy, and from what I have seen, the GTR's eat the Z's. (generally)
The Skylines are'nt the fastest car, but preference is a personal choice. All of these cars have great attributes and are a testimony of he great tuning ability of Nissan.

The Z is a sports car, and was designed as such. The Skyline is a sports sedan and likewise was designed as such. A V-Spec R34 is at the end of a long model range that starts with a 4 door, 2 wheel drive non turbo version. My car may be heavier then the Skyline but with the chip, jets, pulley and exhaust modifications on it most of them do wind up in the rear view mirrors.
Oh, and that is Asian model Francine Dee leaning on the front of my car.

Although I own a R33, I think the 34 is the best among all the Skyline series. The look is simply awesome and it fits the image of a no nonsense performance car. Performance wise, there is not much difference between the 3 models given the almost endless possibilities of mods the car could undergo. The prototype R35 as pictured, in my opinion, does not have that fierce image. It has reduced the Godzilla to a pussycat! I remember that was how Toyota had spoilt the MR2 with its 3rd generation MR2.
By the way, Wykked, I am interested to know the mods on your Z. I used to love the car. But it is proned to over and under steer.

I indeed like the 400R, but the R34 is my favourite. Somthing to do with the dash mounted screen and whoopass performance.
The R35 is a poser of a car, with a proposed V8, one might question wether its a true GTR anyway. In Australia, the GTR's have a great history and the R32 was imortalised as being the ultimate V8 eater in an annual race that was called the Bathurst 1000, where it beat the V8's many times in a row, and was then banned from racing. Putting a V8 in the R35 would kill the legend that the R32 worked hard to create and make it a lesser 'legend' of a car than its predecessors.

kakimoto,
see, thats what a lot of people are saying here, but I guess Nissan just doesn't care anymore! I don't know what's wrong with them. GT-R should always be 4wd and have an engine from the RB26DETT family. I really don't mind if it had RB30DETT or something :)
But it should be flat-6 and have TT's. It's mandatory in my opinion- otherwise GT-R will lose its legend and popularity and respect.

Hello all!
Brendon M,WHATS UP! I am registered on the SDU Forum under EVLTWIN(wanted NIGHTMARE but was taken) Anyway, I went through with the R-32 orderfrom MotoRex U.S.A. and it will be here right after the Holidays! I ended up getting a White 93 GT-R with 35K miles. Can't wait till it gets here!
I chose a R-32 because I have all intentions of modding and running this car at the track. I spent much time in different Skyline forums and emailing people to find the overwhelming choice to be the R-32 for my intentions. It is lighter and much more nimble than the other 2, however I love them all, and think they are great cars.
Anyway, Hello fello Skyline owners and enthusiasts!

And about the R35 i would wait before passing judgement on a Skyline. If it comes with the R390 engine and still is all wheel drive, than i'm still gonna save for one. Just because the car addes 2 cylinders and another liter of displacment shouldn't kill the cars image. So until i see the R35 and what it can do i'll hold off on any judgement calls.

MY GOD, I have never been faced with such a hair pullign decision! I LOVE them all. Eventhough I am not as a big fan of the R32 compared to the suceeding Skylines(in stock formatleast -for the R32, this one looks killer - but the wheels have to go! The 400R is a monster, how could you not desire that, as if it was Jennifer Lopez ( Ricky Martin for you girls out there) :P The R34 is pure imposing aggressive power, a definite wish I had one of those. And no words can describe the R35 prototype ,although a computer image, even still.... WOW!! I would sell my soul (well maybe a few body organs) to have one! However..I will take them all. However, if I had to choose I guess I will go for the R35! BTW ... WYKKED....The model is a absolute goddess! Do you know her personally? I thought the first was '66? I'm certain in that time frame, between 67 and 69, that the "prince" car manufacturer, not Nissan, was making the Skyline and then folded/was acquired by Nissan.
This site has a pretty good, nearly complete history of the Skyline.
http://homepages.tig.com.au/~robs/kevspage4.htm.
My favorite? Not sure. R33 most likely. Which one I'd more likely have/build if it were my real $$$ buying/building it? Maybe a DR30 or HR31 in RWD only configuration with a RB25 or RB26 modded to 450-600RWHP.
I'd like to see the straight 6 stay in the GT-R. Maybe they can do a GT-R king of the hill TTv8 and keep a rb series motor in another model. My bet is a R35 in V8TT form won't be cheap, and I think the 800, 900, 1000HP+++ potential of the RB series is plenty for those of us that stray from the factory state of tune.
See my post in the "who currently owns a gt-r" thread at http://64.177.245.211/vbulletin/showthread.php3?threadid=311 for maybe a few more of my ideas/preferences if you care. (Page 2 I think)

R32, gunmetal. How could there be any other choice? :)
There are several reasons why I like R32 best but the most important one is how it dominated on track and made Skyline GT-R a legend. Its history is something R33 and R34 don't have. Improvements they have over R32, if any, are not that significant that they would matter. Not to me anyway.
As far as looks go: R32, R34, R33.

I've always loved the R34 and I'll continue to love it :D i just think it looks more smooth and agressive than the others (not counting the R35 cause we don't really know that's what it's gunna look like)

Any Skyline will do for me. I like the R34 the most tho. What I love about the Skylines is that it has that attitude about it. It has that "Yes, I may be Japanese, but I will totally trash you in whatever you're in. And even if I lose by some freak accident, I'll still look good." It's has that aggressive "Don't freak (edited, sorry!) with me!" look. That's why I like Japanese sports cars (read: turbocharged fourwheel drive monsters!), especially the Skyline.

I'm speechless after seeing the pic of your car. I can't say it's "beautiful" because it's too aggressive to be beautiful, but I can't say it's "aggressive" because it's too beautiful to be aggressive. I guess the best I can describe your car is
IT'S FREAKIN BAD-ASS!!!!
I had always preferred the R34 over the R33 (because I saw more pics of the R34 than the R33), but after seeing your car, I'm totally torn between the two of them.

If it's left to me, I would buy all three! Each of them has that somethins special lookwise and performance wise. But the 34 takes the cake in the look department. The 32 is also awesome with that classic 60's kinda way. The 33 suffers from the middle child syndrome - neither here nor there both in term of look and performance. But hey, a GTR is always a GTR and I am not complaining. I dunno about other countries, but here in M'sia, GTR owners respect each other and there is this unwritten rule that a 32 owner will bow to a 33 owner and a 33 owner will do so to a 34 owner!:D We may chase each other on the road or track, but at thye end of ythe day, the 34 owner will always have this respectful gestures from the 33 or 32 owner.
And Lauren, thanks for the freak out comment! I tell you Lauren, go and take a second mortgage on whatever valuables you have and buy the GTR, regardless of the model, IT IS TOTALLY FREAKIN WORTH IT!:badass: :aug2:

I'm definitely partial to the R34. I've got a hand-built model of one on my desk, and guess which car I race with on Gran Turismo 3 - Vspec?? That R35 looks kinda funky, to me. Sorta like a Chrysler! In a word - BLEAAAGGHH!!:spit:

Shouldn't it be the other way around? I mean where is the respect for the elder? Should a owner of a first year production VW bug bow for the ones that own a Beetle, or the bug they make in Brazil? '64 Stang vs. '65? To quote a commercial, "Nothing beats an original". ;)
I would love to get another, R34, as my daily driver. That way I could store my R32 and only take it out on Sundays. Wouldn't that be cool.
Just in case someone thinks I'm trashing R33 and R34, I'm not. It's just that owning a Skyline GT-R has been my dream since '89 (and everyone should know what happened that year) so to me the obvious choice was R32. Technically they are mostly same w/ minor changes so I wasn't even tempted to go for R33/R34, not that I could have afforded them anyway...

Those Z8 pictures were taken couple of weeks ago at the local (Dallas) BMW club meet. Pictures just don't so justice for Z8, actually both cars look much better live.

Sami, that is an AWESOME lookin gunmetal 32 you have there. The 32 is simply inimitable in term of look. But tell ya....the other day there was this really awesome looking 32 playing cat and mouse with me on the highway. It was bright orange and it was simply stunning. Rumour has it that it's running 2510s with 480 horses. Wanna paint orange?:D

Hey, Sami, is the R32 your daily driver? I'd like to know how a fellow Texan (OK, so EL Paso is 600 miles away, but its a HUGE state, dammit!) would get along with the R32 as a driver. Beautiful car, bud. Aargh, if only I had the cash! I sold my '96 Impala SS to help pay for a Skyline and now thanks to financial troubles, I can't afford one for at least 3 months:(

Right now it is my daily driver as I just sold my beater. Hopefully it won't be for long, I just need to find a decent ride. Having Skyline as a daily driver is not that bad as I can walk to work (~200 yards)... :)
Painting a gunmetal R32 orange, damn that would be a disgrace but HKS GT2530's hopefully find their way into my car someday.

If you do decide to go 2530's give me a call/write....I can get them cheaper here in Japan than you can in the US.

Hey, sami, where did you get the R33 wheels? Did it come like that,or did you buy them yourself? I think those wheels look better on R32 than R33. 17s look perfect on an R32, but too small on R33 and R34.

They came with the car. Those magnesium R32 wheels would have been nice but I'm not complaining...
