last i knew procharger kits where esentially bolt-on kits. and as for the cam and head package it shouldn't interfere with the supercharger. just make sure you get a cam and head that will work well with the sc. like i said it won't interfere but just tune it so that it all works together and builds off of each other.

I have an idea, instead of purchasing a Procharger, why not just drop in a turbo charger? They give you twice as much as supercharger and don't constantly beat down on the engine. A turbo will feed off the engines own exhaust w/ out causing any loss in engine life, while a super will be parasitic to the engine and will be constantly ramming air down the engine throat and wasting away at your engine. A good turbo will run you about 6k, pretty expensive but i have heard that a procharger can kik you up 200 horses while a good turbo will knock you up to about 400 horses. You choose, depending on how big your wallet is. Nothing wrong w/ a super but if you want the most power, go with turbo.

well first of all...ur insane if you think buying a turbo will boost you 400 horse. if you have the SLP head and cam which should mean u got about 500 horse as it is, strappin on a turbo wont give you 900 horse, lol. if it were that easy i think a lot more people would be talkin about their 900 horse TA's. however, the other comments about the turbo are true, but either way a turbo or a super would be damn nice with that head and cam, you shouldnt have a problem installing either one. by the way, what did you pay for that head and cam?...also how much horse are you pushing now and what kind of 1/4 mile times u run cause i was thinking about buying the slp head and cam along with their long tube headers package

I am saying 400 horses extra at the flywheel. That is only if you get top of the line turbos with ball bearing intercoolers. Yes, they do make turbos that give out 400 horses. Not right out of the box but with a minimal number of upgrades, as i said before, a ball bearing intercooler, and maybe some other parts. I am still stiking with a turbo giving more horses than a super. But 400 horses out of the box sounds insane i know. Believe that it can be done.

To tell you the truth, i am really not sure where to find a good turbo. I have read in a Firebird biography that Garrett made turbochargers for the LS1 and i think they made a couple for the 3.8 liter v6 but i am not completely sure about the specs on them. Here is the website, you can surf around on it and try and find out. They don't really give any specifications on what engines they will fit to but o well. I e-mailed asking about turbos for the LS1 so i should be getting an answer back soon. heres the website http://shop.store.yahoo.com/cheapturbo/index.html

The site looks like it only contains Japanese import cars but i do know that Garrett (used to make, not sure they still do or where they are) turbos for the good ol' muscle car. I am still in search for a good turbo.

the slp long tube headers leave nearly no clearance uder the car, my buddy has them on his 99 z and he cannot even fit a ciggarete box under them

so koeb$ the slp long tubes arent a great idea?...well besides the bad clearance did they make his z(not sure what car that is) alot faster...how much horsepower was added from them? cause they are very expensive and id like to know if i can get headers that arent long tube but do almost the same improvement

the z is a z29 camaro. the car was not noticable faster, but the engine was breathing better and he saw a little bit better fuel economy, if clearance and money are no issue get them. but i would go with a pair of shortie hooker headers, i have then on my car and they are great...i think long tube headers are better if u run them straight, but its better to have shorties on a car that will need emission becuase no other modifications will have to be done t the exhaust set-up unless u desire a new cat n cat back system

Turbo kits for F-bodies are popping up more and more now, but they're still rare and quite expensive. Although some of the twin-intercooled Prochargers aren't exactly cheap, they'd still cost less than a turbo and put out as much boost as you'd like.
Turbocharging is no doubt a more efficient means of generating boost but by no means is it twice as good or effective. So the crank is being taxed on a SC - big deal, you're losing what? 25, 35, 45 HP?? Its not like an 8psi turbo would give you an extra 100 HP over an 8psi blower.
Forget efficiency for a moment, and ask yourself how much boost you want to run. Considering you're looking at intercooled (I presume) Prochargers, you are probably looking for at least 9 psi of boost - thats about what you could run safely on a stock motor without risking detonation. If you're planning on rebuilding the motor with forged low-compression pistons, etc... then there are some Procharger twin-intercooled packages that will get you up to 20psi if you want.
And by the way, most people tend to forget the other big thing turbo's do better than blowers..... and that is generate extreme heat. No better way to prevent detonation than packing a 5000 degree mini-oven under the hood next to the motor. But this is just my :2cents: , means as little to me as the few horses a blower loses at the crank.
Bottom line - any kind of forced induction on an LS1 is downright scarey!
