'97 Escort Power Steering Pump Replacement

Hello everyone, I've been working on my Father's '97 Ford Escort (I4) for the past few days now, I've talked to several Ford technicians and they've all told me that we needed to replace the power steering pump. I have the Hayne's manual for this car, since I really don't know too much about it hence the fact that it's not an import. The only thing I'm really wanting to know is there anyone out there who has tackled this task or not, and how difficult is it to complete? Any other advice would be greatly appreciated as well.
