alright guys...as you might know already, my lude is at the body shop getting repaired due to a traffic accident that left her in less than prestine condition :angryfire:
anyways...everytime my lude got hurt, i'd try my best to do something nice to her. e.g.:
hit some saplings: cleaned her, got the dent out
minor scratch from shopping cart: 4 hour 3-step detailing ( i got a tan too :D)
here are my plans to make up for the accident:
===================================
insurance deductible: $500 :22yikes:
(everything below is off ebay and includes shipping and handling:)
Engine/Drivetrain:
---------------------------
4-2-1 Headers: $120
CAI: $42
muffler & tip (dual 3", can't afford full cat-back): $58
Suspension:
---------------------------
Upper Front Strut: $24
Upper Rear Strut: $25
Coilover Lowering Springs (maybe, probably not): $78
Apperance:
---------------------------
UV Blocking Tints: $90 (not off ebay)
Halogens: $15
AND!!: 4-hour detailing
GRAND TOTAL: $952 -OR WITHOUT SPRINGS - $874
==================================================
I hope thats still showing that i love my car. Which I really do. I once heard someone compare a prelude to a throughbred horse, which it really is, considering Honda has tried everything new on it before it went into other cars, and therefore only keeping the best traits.
PS: I am not rich, i am paying for this using some surprise excess scholarship money my university decided to give me. And I am not dumb and have not forgotten that these things don't install themselves. Luckily, my friends, and my brother's friends are all gear heads and they're all taking 5 or 6 auto courses (simulataneously) in high school. That lets them be in the school's auto shop practically most of the day and they're really good, especially with the teacher's supervision. Heck...they just finished rebuilding the engine on a 1989 Nissan Maxima because it belonged to my friend, and he had a fully cracked exhaust manifold (it was no longer 1 piece, it was 3 pieces!!), and they figured they'd polish the entire engine inside and out while they waited for the new one, so i have full confidence in them.
MODS: I know i have ranted...but maybe this should be stickied as an example on how to love your car when you f*** it up, or maybe not...its up to you ;)

I would post pics of my broken lude, but thats just too painful, so i didn't take any. I'll post pics of her when she's all better.

oh...and my friend in the maxima...he thinks he can take me ;) 1989 Maxima SE. I think he's on drugs. I'll be quite though, considering he's gonna be the one doing most of the work on her.
Oh, I also need new brake pads.

You've got... an Si?
The mufflers are a waste of money, and I have always been against tint; if you're serious about racing, tint is a dangerous thing, especially at night. Being able to see (functionality) is important, much more than looking cool.
If you don't know how to drive, then the Maxima can definitely take you.

dude...acesHigh stop hating a Maxima taking out r beloved Lude specially my dearest 5thGenLude (I can only dream of owning one) no way..."crazy" you got nothing to worry about...you would take him by atleast 5-7 car's aces is really a non beliver of r Lude's power...i mean i heard enough aces always taking r beloved lude's down and how fast it is but then again is not so fast it is...dude maybe you haven't been on a V-TEC lude and besides I had a 92 Si before my 94 V-Tec and i don't think there's a huge differences...an 4th gen Si with Headers and intake would take a stocked V-Tec even a 3rd Gen Si Lude...but then again I'm lucky enough to have my Lude O.K. modiefied with DC Headers and a good short ram...and my V-tec kick in once i rev...to 6....hahaha and it's all she wrote........and all they c is my big fat azz..but can't wait till i get my true love 5thgen...type SH and all they'll remember is my alien eye headlights...cause i'll be long gone before they take there eyes off them...

Okay, first of all. Know your own goddamn car. It's VTEC. Not V-Tec. A header and intake would get you about even with a Prelude VTEC, barely if you're lucky. We're talking about trying to net 30 horses with a header and intake here.
And second, from all his crashes and accidents, I was merely suggesting that maybe he take some time learning how to drive the thing before he mods it. Just doing that will probably shave him a few seconds.
Yes, I am a Prelude hater. That's why I own one.
My friend beat a supercharged Prelude with her 240sx. Most likely because the lil shitter can't drive.

lol, that hurts man. making me sound like i'm constantly getting into crashes and accidents :P
the lil incident a month ago was because i had just gotten the car 4 days before, thought it was an SH, and thought i could turn it at 50mph. yes, that was very stupid. this time though, i wasn't driving stupid, and it was my first real accident in the 2 and a half years i've been driving! u make me sound like i don't know how to drive, your hurting my feelings man :(
j/k :D anyways, how much hp would i probably be gaining with the i/h?? realistically, on an average, because i know what the manufacturer's claim is bulls***, and it can usually vary a lil. and the muffler is actually more for appearence.
oh! and i creamed my friend's 240sx

Don't take offense, man. I apologize.
But I know alot of people who can benefit from racing lessons. Gains from i/h/e vary from car to car.

i know, i wasn't really offended, thats why i put "j/k :D" thanks for your help btw
oh! my brother just told me its pointless to get headers without a new exhaust. Is this true? and if so, how much would a completely straight 2.5" pipe cost? and will i sound like a riced out civic?

hahah V-TEC VTEC same thing...240 SX beating a VTEC Prelude....hahah that's some funny shit cause i beating two 240 SX's even the new's one....maybe a 240 SX can beat a Prelude but with a Skyline engine...(whole different storie)

once u put ur headers into your car you'll hear a different tone off ur exhaust so if you get an exhaust you really get that exhaust deep tone...specially with u get a cat-back...

My point of the 240sx vs Prelude story was that sloppy driving will lose races.
And the muffler thing, cutting off your muffler and wielding on another one won't give you any noticeable hp gain. Save up the money and get a full cat back system.

alright guys...i'm close to purchasing all this stuff.
is it wise to buy all these *generic* performance parts? none of them are brand name, so i dunno.
another thing, i'm probably gonna drop the muffler idea, and i still can't afford a full catback system, so is it a good idea to change the catalytic converter to a high-flow racing one to help out a lil?? and are these usually street legal?
heres the link to the one i'll probably buy:

GUT THE CAT!!!! well i mean if u wana be legal dont but its seems like ur street racing anyways, if u gut the cat is pretty much impossible for 5-0 to notice it so if ur worried about that u should be alright. Smog maybe a problem but if ur lucky u might find one that will pass you if u take him out to lunch or something (worked for me) and if it where me i wouldnt buy any of that generic stuff. unless u plan on sticking with it. i was looking at your total and not to be mean or anything but in my eyes if u arent keeping ur stuff ur spending about 1k on crap. but if ur intent is to keep that stuff for a while and by a while i mean 2-5 years go for it. as for custome exhaust piping make sure its mandrel bent or its pointless.
