Just a general question to all you G20 owners out there!

Do you hear a lot of road noise while driving? Whether on the highway or the city. I hear something, but I am not sure what it is, it could be my rims or my wheel bearings worn out or something!

Just wondering if anybody else hears.... Road Noise!!

you might have a bad bearing

Has anybody here had to replace bearings on their G?

I hope it isn't a bad bearing, if it is, it shouldn't be too hard to replace. It might cost around 50 bucks to replace the old part My cousin, just replaced his rear right bearing in his MR2 over the weekend. I was helping him with the install. You'll need to take the old bearing to a machine shop to press the rubber peices out and into the new one, unless you have super human strength.

My car sounded nothing like his though, so I think it's just my tires, I've got the Paradas on my car.

My car is noisier on the highway now that i've got 17" wheels and tires installed. I don't notice it much around town but on a rough road going 60+mph i can definitely tell a difference from stock. I would suggest you jack up the car and rotate the wheels by hand. It could be just about anything...brakes, CV, bearings, tranny, etc. Until you listen closely without the wind or engine noise you're going to have a hard time telling.

Parada's are notoriously noisy. Unless you have alot of miles, I wouldn't suspect a bearing. I have 103,000 miles an my bearings are still good.

Most excellent, I didn't think it was the wheel bearings as much as I thought it was the tires. I've only got around 36,000 miles on my car.

Hey GOLDP11 I have a question about the MR2....My brothers 93 MR2 turbo bearings are going out and making hell of alot of noise...is it hard to do the fix? How much were the bearings? I know I am going to have to get it machine pressed...help me out here...and also just to make sure 100% that its the wheel bearings...What does it sound like? My brothers car sounds like little metal piece bouncing around and also hear squeaking and is louder when moving faster....is this what it sounds like?

I believe the wheel bearings cost him about 50 bucks, I'm not sure though, he got it at Napa auto parts.

is it hard to do the fix?
It's hard if you don't have the right tools! we had an impact wrench with air compressor, because my other cousin is a mechanic, and he was there to walk us through everything. It took about 2 hours I'd say.

and also just to make sure 100% that its the wheel bearings...What does it sound like
To me it sounded like he had a wobbly wheel. It would be quiet at first, and it would start getting really loud the faster he went.

Most likely your brother has a bad wheel bearing, because the MR2's have had that problem, I read somewhere on the internet, that's how we found out my cousin had to replace his!

Hope this helped, Good Luck
