Ok, I was under the impression that their is an intake for my year model (2001), but everywhere I've searched only shows me intakes for the 99 model, which is still a P11. Is their a reason for that or will I be ok to use an intake from a 99 G20. Say from Stillen or JWT. Basically, is their a difference between the 99 intakes and a 2001 intakes??? Thanx.

Ya, there is a difference between the '99 year and the '00+ years. I dont remember exactly the difference, but I do remember that you cant put a 99 on later models.

i am new to this things but i have G20 2000 and i have JWT intake which is same as 99 G20's intake((mabye))

only thing i did is that i drilled front of the filter and put my 02 senser.
i didn't have any problem with that and it runs pretty good ^^

The only drawback I see is the little sensor thing that sits right in front of the intake box, what should I do with that? and also someone said their might be a size difference of the intake, does that mean the piping or the bolt pattern where the adapter goes, thanx for any help.

my senser was used sit front of the filter but i think it'll mass with ur idole of ur RPM!!! that happend to me!!
so u should put senser in the filter!!!

some INF dealer do that for u but mostly they don't touch any after market stuff!!!

good luck ^.^

p.s is your car lowed?
if it is what kind of struts and springs r u using?
are they pretty good?

I think I might give Stillen and JWT a call and see if they have any plans for an intake for a 2001 G20. So I'll let you know ;)

Actually I have no suspension mods as of yet. But I do plan on getting Eibach Pro-kits or Tein S.Tech springs. As for struts, probably Koni Sports all around, not 100% yet :xelicon:

well weapon-r made an intake (not a filter charger like jwt or stillen) for a 99 g20...

maybe we could push them to make some for us 2000-2001 owners :)

Michael and everyone else with a 2001 G20...

I called Stillen and they told me that they haven't developed them yet and they told me to call back in a month...I was like what?!?!? How about you tell me if your gonna make it at all so I won't have to call back and get the same answer. Ok whatever. So then I called JWT and those guys are the sh*t. I asked about an intake (pop-charger) for our cars (2001 p11) and they told me that they just developed one for our cars which also fits the newer Sentra SE's. And the guy their , I think his name was Ben, even went searching everywhere for this info and confirmed the fitment. I was like awesome, that some badass customer service, usually they'll be like "let me have your number and I'll call you back" and they never do. The intake should be somewhere around $120 or so. It comes with the pop-adapter and pop-charger filter but no piping. So peeps...start loading them up with orders hehe :D peace.

www.jimwolftechnology.com/poprest.htm for a pic of it.

p.s. you might wanna call and confirm the fitment for a 2000 b/c when I called I only asked them about fitment for a 2001 but I'm pretty sure they have one anyways ;)

Yeah I have the POP on my 99. They also sell a bad ass header for the G too. Mine's in the mail somewhere...order up one of those while you're at it.

Jason, is the installation of the pop-charger as straight forward as I think it will be? John mentioned that a pipe was needed, what's that for? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks

Nismoboy1

Hey Michael -

Their is no pipe needed, what I said was that it doesn't come with piping like some intakes do. For instance, the large intake pipe you have now that goes from the throttle body to the mass air-flow. This is not a full intake. This is just a pop-adapter and pop-filter, thats it, so installation is pretty straight forward...;)

here's a pic of it, just to get a general idea of what it comes with...

oh...i forgot...if you want to see a picture of it in a p11...go to www.g20.net and go to the reader's rides and check out jason's and luke's car :flash:

Nope John's right. It's pretty easy too.

BTW I got my header and cam gears in the mail yesterday. I'll take some pics and post them on G20.net soon. I haven't installed it yet. I have to run out and get some new gaskets...hoping next week.

Oh yeah John....if you send me a pack of about 6+ good sized pics of your ride and a nice paragraph writeup like the other ones in readers rides I'll put your car up there too. Next week I'll try and add all the ones I've got waiting...about 3 or so.

Cool...sounds good...I'll let you know when...I need to go out take some more pics :) I'll take some interior and engine bay pics also, even though my cars all stock hehe :D

oh yeah, should i e-mail you the pics or post them up, thanx :alien:

Good micheal can't wait to see how you handle the slippery slope of car modding.

Guys if you want to send me some pics please just email me at readersrides@g20.net. Send in at least 5 good quality pics and a small write up about your car or why you bought it or crap like that. :) I'll put them up on g20.net with your own page. If you send me small crappy pics and a half-ass description I'll just put you in the Misc section which I'm creating as we speak. It should be up tomorrow. Later.

is there any difference between the JWT, K&N, stillen, and weapon R? in horsepower and torque? what's the best for the price.

thanks in advance

JWT and Stillen are practically identical. And the both use a K&N cone filter. These won't make you a lot of power but it will sound better.

I'm not sure about the Weapon R.

Hotshot and Place Racing both make a Cold Air Intake that is really good. The CAI's will get better hp but they cost a little more. I think these are better bang for the buck personally.

Nismoboy1
05-05-2001, 12:35 PM
Yep, JWT and Stillen are the same, maybe a ~2hp difference with these not much...

I've read something somewhere that the cold air intakes for our engines (sr20de;) ) have produce somewhere around ~8hp peak. And this car was on a dyno, not on the street, so you may expect a few more horses when the cars in motion. I had a Place Racing in my old sentra (ga16de) and it did a little but not much. But then again its just a intake, you can't expect too much :D but they sound good though...

a friend has a 99 g20 and when taking a run on the dyno (stock) he pulled 119.2hp after adding a weapon-r intake he pulled 122.9hp... so it added 3.7 hp to a completely stock car.

this intake is available for a 99 g20 only...

if you wanna get to the details...stillen actually copied JWT's POP charger, however, stillen filter looks a lot better thanthe JWT, go figure
as far as HP wise..since it's the same thing it's the same result.
i would buy the JWT just cuz they are the originator but if you like eye candy, stillen looks nice...and more expensive!???

Intresting reading this forum how so many of you have these cone type intake system's. Do they really make that big a difference ????

I have just gone for the cheaper way and used the KN filter replacement and it seems just mine to me.

Do you think it would be better to go the other way and get the whole system idea ???

G-Forces
05-11-2001, 08:21 AM
The cone filter with the horn adapter is actually pretty cheap. It doesn't make much difference...but the sound is amazing!

the intake system on the 99 is diffrent than the 00-01 trust me i found oout the hard way ..jwt does have a pop charger for the 00-01 but the performance gains are minimal , especially in the summer if u want real performance go with the place racing cold air intake and the jwt pop i't seems to be the most potent combo... i would do the c ai but my car is a lease and it requires cutting so that's out of the question,,however u can just get the section that goes from the throttle body to the mass air flow sensor but be forwarned the intake sound is addictive and will induce more agrressive driving...

you write that you got the filter replacement for the original airbox. have you removed the intakesilencer in the fender?? I just installed this BMC airfilter in the European Almera GTI (think its the Pulsar in japan).

http://www.motorshop.nu/shop/bmc/prod/1.jpg

When removing the original airbox there was some kind of connector that goes down in the front of the wheelarch. The silencer itself weighted around 1,5kg and with no use - it has got to go... thinking about removing it on my p10 '96 (I to have kept the airbox). more grunt in the sound should be available after the "surgery"...

Maybe even better cooling when sucking air from inside the wheelarch to??

Thanks for the info.
I never new there was a silencer in the fender. I just went for KN filter replacement only. May have to check it out.

i have the pipe from the throttle body to the maf from cai and at the end of that i have the jwt pop charger(i didn't get the whole set-up cause it would require cutting) does anyone have a problem with the pop rubbing up against the hood?

Both these vehicles are exactly the same down to the bolts, I went to a dealer parked my car next to a 01 & opened up both hoods, the same except for color, some hoses.

to the best of my knowledge the 2000 and 2001 engines are exactly the same, BUT looks arent everything!!!

if you parked a 99 and 2000 next to each other you'd say the same thing.. there's no way for you to notice that the MAFs are actually different, even though they look the same. ...there's no way for you to notice that the 2000 now has roller rockers on the valve springs... etc.

just fair warning... dont go by looks alone.
