Well, I just finished my swap of a JDM D15B VTEC into my little CRX HF.... sHWeet! is all i have to say. Too bad I wasn't able to get an Si or even a DX tranny before I dropped it in last week.
For the past two days I've had it done but it wouldn't start.... had fuel, compression, but no spark... I tested the distributor coil and ignitor and they all tested fine and everything had power but nothing to the spark plugs.... After I ran out of ideas, I decided to swap in a new coil for the heck of it... rRwhiir, rrwhiir, dadadat, vrrrooommm.. That was the issue. The coil tested okay but it just wasn't pushing enough juice to jump the gaps.
Just thought I'd let everyone know.
Since I had to run the HF tranny it's not as fast as it could be, but oh well. I couldn't wait another week or two for something else.

how did the swap go? how does the car feal with the hf tranny? I was thinking about doing that swap, and keepin the tranny, i like the tall gears, I have 91hf, and I want to get one of the 3 stage vtec d15b (vtecE-normal-Proformance vtec) http://www.geocities.com/topfue1/d15b.html
I'm hoping to fet great mileage while still being able to haul the proverble ass.
ps. I want to add a quik 75 dry shot of nos brand No2, and try to get 200 at the wheels, do you think the d15b could handle it???

I think he used a P28 ECU and a P28 distributor. I've been reading his swap threads~

Sweet. How long did it take you from start to finish?
I think the D15B could easily get to 200 at the wheels. 200 ponies is not a very far goal away

I'll tell you this, if you're shooting for 200 hp from a D15B, you'll want at least a DX tranny.
BTW, I ended up using the P08 Ecu; that's what was made for the motor... I got it from Ken Racing Shop in Malaysia (found on Ebay... they have a lot of these... look at my ebay winnings and you'll find them "[email protected]"). NOTE: if the ECU code number set ends in 900 or 901 then its an automatic... get anything other than that and it's likely stick shift.
Due to issues with getting a new oil pan (shipping company destroyed it) it took a whole month... I'd say a week and a half of 7hr days for a beginner with a little help removing/installing motors. There's a good deal of wiring involved, a little less than for the Z6 swap, but not as much as a B series swap.
With the Hf tranny, hf exhaust (VERY restrictive :() I'm getting to about 88 mph in the 1/4 which is about ~15.38 secs I think....that's just a guesstimate.

formerly '92 Vx 5spd. took me a few weeks cuz im in school.only had a few friends help remove it & put back in with the cherry picker. Also i swapped in a DX 5spd trans..didn't like the waaay tall gears and snail like acceleration in the VX trans. had my flywheel lightened 3lbs & a 6puck ceramic disc put in with stock pp. Other than a code14 and my ac not connected yet. She runs like a thorobread!
All i have on it motor tranny wise is:stock header w/cat right next to the head(vx), cold air w/HKS green monster foam filter, and a knock-off mugen LOOP muffler(quiet). For shits & giggles i added stainless steel brake lines, cdslotted rotors, axis cermic pads-they still make some dust but no squeek. 90 teg St teal lowering springs-good drop & stiffer than reglar EG springs but the back is lifted like 2" higher . guess its almst rally style.
next up is my rear disc conversion from a DC teg. i put in a 2G teg prop brake valve which fits but had to use a flared wrench on them nuts.it leaked a lil cuz i fidgeted w/hard lines but i *quicksteel*'d them so no leaks and stops on a dime. Soon i'll add a EG's z6 gas tank which is like 1.9gallons bigger.i know it adds more weight but im not racing & i want more driving range for trips to vegas from san diego. glad to hear another 1rst time swapper have a good project
