How do I remove a decal

Can anyone tell me how to remove a decal I have on my trunk without harming my paint job?

This procedure usually will not harm an original factory paint job, so make sure it has not been painted.
2 ways described below

1) Find your nearest auto paint supply store and purchase a decal remover. it looks and feels like those yellowish color erasers. It's a round disk that is attached to a drill, and basically rubs off the decal and glue. It does a good job as long as you keep it moving.

2) Use a heat gun(at a safe distance) a safer way would be using a hair drier. (CAUTION: when heating, the metal under the decal can get to 600 degrees) Heat the decal about 6" at a time. After initially heating for a few minutes very carefully lift the edge, and pull the decal as you heat it. if it gets to hot it will rip let it cool a little and continue. when you get it off, the glue can be removed with wax and grease remover.This will not harm any paint job, unless of course it was painted an hour ago. I use PPG DX330 which can be purchased at an auto parts store that sells auto paint. saturate a rag, and wipe it on, let it set for a minute or two, and the glue should rub right off with finger pressure. some glue comes off with lighter fluid or rubbing alcohol nail polish remover . These will soften the glue.

For plastic decals, I use a blow dryer and peel. For paper ones, I soak in WD-40 until the glue dissolves and then scrape with a fingernail.

I'll try with the blow dryer and let you know. Since these are not factory decals I'm hoping they will come off easier.

Yeah - I'd go with the blow dryer method first since its a free fix.

I used the blow dryer methode and the decal came off real easy. Almost didn't need the blow dryer :)
