motor swap

so when i finaly get a 97 gsx do i need to swap the motor to a 1g to keep from getting CrAnKwAlK?

No, you only need to swap the motor IF you get crankwalk, and not only 5 speeds get them if i'm not mistaken.

If auto's can get it, I think that the chances are very low. I have not heard of an auto with crankwalk. But I could be wrong.

i have an eagle talon tsi awd with and automatic and it crankwalked on me (they have the exact same engine as the eclipse turbo if you didn't know) but i also have a few bigger mods to it like a t3/t04 turbo, injectors, and that stuff so that could have contributed to the problem.....none the less it still happened.

i was saying y not go ahead and get a 1g motor as soon as i get a 97 gsx to avoid CW all together

Because it's a waste of money. Why would you buy a car then get rid of it's working motor? FIRST you get crankwalk (if you do) THEN you replace

i second that! you should spend a good amount of time searching about CW cause obviously you dont know much about it! and after doing research on it you will see why everyone will tell you to keep the 97 motor unless it CWs on you or you blow it up somehow! thats the only reason i am putting a 6 bolt motor in my car, because my engine was was messed up! it didnt have CW just 2 spun rod bearings and it was cheaper for me to buy a 91 6 bolt motor then to by new rods and a crank! so go look up CW and if you still feel like you have to change the motor then i guess you are wasting your own money so i dont care, but whatever you do... good luck!

get rid of the 2g engine while it's still running so you can get some $$$ out of it before it cw's or blows so you just have to trash it and drop in a 1g. saves you time and money in the longrun.

You won't save money by ditching a good engine. The chances you get CW are so low, and depending on how many miles you have.. your chances could be near 0. I could go on, but there's nothing more to say. Crankwalk is like a car accident. You don't prepare for it by selling your car, because not everyone has to worry about beign in one.
