2002 Max 255HP, 2004 265HP WHY??

What exactly was changed to bring about this difference of 10HP? Was it an ecu upgrade, exhaust, intake manifold??
What exactly changed? Thanks

doesn't really matter as the 04 Max has gained an extra 3-4 hundred pounds over the 02-03 models, so that extra 10 hp isn't going to make it any quicker than the 03.
the extra 10 probably came from the fact that the 04's now have dual exhaust.

It's mostly just the ECU, the timing and intake being the most important. I doubt the exhaust does a whole lot.
I've heard a couple claims that they are actually dynoing around 280 hp, which would make sense since they run just about as fast as 2k2/2k3's while weighing significantly more.

I've never heard that before (dyno around 280hp) if I may ask, where did you get this from?
If anything I've heard that they dyno around the same but somehow the gearing was tweaked to help the Max perform around the same as the 02/03.

Trust me, I good high flow exhaust will give you a minimum 10-15 hp increase, with no other modifications.

i don't know about that. the 3.5 altima are dual exhaust and they make the same hp.

Over on the .org I have seen guys claiming their cars are on the dyno in the mid low to mid 230's for HP, which is only a few HP lower than the Z's have been dynoing at. I haven't heard anything about the gearing, but I don't think that it would be much higher than us 02/03's, because if it was, torque steer would be entirely unmanageable.

Altima's are not a true dual exhaust. There are only a few cars with true dual exhaust, most notably the M3. The Altima muffler makes the same power as the Maxima muffler. It is a dual chamber muffler with dual exit. But not true dual exhaust. Take a look at it one day. The tips are the same length and width of the Maxima's.
