The new European currency came into circulation today, would a single currency for the whole world be a good idea?

In a word NO
Theres alittle problem with a thing called inflation. its abit hard to control if you cant control your own currency

if you could build your own world from day one and start everyone on one currency all the way through the end of time, yea, it'll probably work...but in todays standards, its not gonna happen.

Two things to think about.
Different kinds of governments (communist, dictatorships) would make the whole idea impossible.
and this article by George Will

I totally agree with Mr. Will's article. A one world currency and a one world government will only destroy individualism on a national level, if that makes sense. No longer will there be americans, british, irish, only humans. Sounds kind of like a good idea until you realize that then you'll be just like everyone else. No history, no past, no future. Just another money maker for the government.
